Getting UNBANNED must be faster - via live chat support or a 'second chance' feature
Hi all,
I just got banned while talking to a mate on Grindr. Out of the blue. No warning, no explanation, no nothing. This is all but ridiculous!
I've been using the app for, I don't remember how long now - 6+ years maybe, as it's still not possible to check account creation date despite my feedback to Grindr on the subject months ago - and their system banned me in an instant as if I was using fake ID, advertising, selling, you name it bannable misconduct. Obviously, none of these apply. Yet no first or second warning, nothing at all - just a 'Your account has been banned for violating our Guidelines or Terms of Service' message while I was online and chatting.
This said, I'd like to call for the introduction of a live chat service for users to be able to contact Grindr Support directly and in real time. Right now I'm not even sure whether my in-app report got sent or delivered, as there was no confirmation of any kind neither on-screen, nor via e-mail.
Another suggestion would be the implementation of a 'Second Chance' option that allows offenders to avoid getting permanently banned until another violation. Often, as in my case (although, mind you, I still don't know why I got banned), mistakes do occur - be it on user or app's side - and having the ability to 'postpone' a ban until human Support has decided whether it was a genuine offence that deserved or a ban or a second chance, or it was a mistake due to automated measure in place to prevent abuse.
My only and rather wild guess would be that I got banned for sending my mate a link to show him something. However, I've sent links before and there's never been an issue. I don't remember using an URL shortener though such as bit.do (as in this case). So, if this is what got me banned - a genuine, non-harmful link - I believe it would help many guys to know what EXACTLY is forbidden to send in a private (yeah, right - "private") message and what isn't. How was I even remotely supposed to know using this specific shortener could get me banned? Like, seriously!

We now link directly to a help page and ban appeal form when you get banned. Moderators typically review and respond to ban appeals within 1-2 days.

Crazy action from Grindr banning profiled without any actual reason. No evidence no proves and no warning, they just do because (who knows) customer service is the most useless part of it. You cannot talk, as it seems is a compute replying with pre written answers, it is beyond ridiculous.
I have done no wrong and they’ve banned my profile this should not happening at least without any warnings. Anyone can report you for any reasons even if they think you are stupid this is uncontrollable so Grindr should take reports in a different way. And actually prove both parties with evidence.
Also they block directly to your mobile IMIE address so no matter how many account you try to make they will be automatically banned. Ridiculous !!!!
I’m so disappointed with it. I wish I could sue them!

I got banned too without any reasons I cannot explain what happened and now I am wondering if I will even get my account back. After all the money I’ve also spent on the subscription this isn’t really the best way to treat customers. Literately I cannot explain why I have got banned.

I got banned because a guy said I looked "Under 18" And I literally said I was 18, He was shouting about at me over the voice messages and he said he'd reported me. I blocked him of course but 10 minutes later a banned icon came up. I cant create any new accounts or even sign in with facebook. It's a joke.
Does anyone know any alternative apps / How to bypass this grindr ban?
They need to understand that gay people find it harder to communicate in the real world. If someone does something wrong, don't ban them, just remove the content. I understand if its severely bad but most of these things people do are minor, or just jokes.

Same thing happened to me, because I had on my profile that I was renting my apartment due to the crisis, I didn't know that advertising an apartment to rent was against the rules as it seems to me a quite harmless thing to do, especially in these terrible times that we are going through.
They say that they are not going to lift my ban, after using them for 11 years with the same account.

Yes my grindr account just been banned and after begging for another chance they said no and I've tried to create new accounts but everything it just pops up banned account. And after I had found many and chatted with many guys I like this is ridiculous does anyone know an alternative app with free messaging like grindr all the other apps I've tried so far have to pay for messaging please and thank you

my account is banned out of sudden, and i contacted them, they answer me because they can ban anyone without reason. just after i subscribed the extra. so guys pls beware and quit grindr for good, there a lot better apps out there..

I have been getting banned for absolutely no reason. One time even before ai could put in my details Onwas banned. They keep saying I have flouted their rules or one time they said it was due to drug abuse , use of weapons and paid ****** services !!! Ridiculous!

Wow. So glad to see current posts here. I got banned two days ago for no reason. I think it's b/c someone got pissed when I said I couldn't meet 'right now'. He even gave me his number and answered and talked when I called. But when I texted him after I got banned I got a reply to "stop texting my underage child." And Customer Service NEVER gives a specific reason. They just say "the ban will not be lifted". And it seems that I too can't create a new account. WTF!!

Report Grindr to the Better Business Bureau (just google grindr and BBB). I was just banned for the second time in one week for no reason. It’s a huge issue that they are not taking seriously.

I’ve been banned two months ago and I constantly contacted the Grindr’s support without receiving any responses in order to lift the ban. The fact occurred is due to Spammy Activity even if I am not accustomed to have a indecorous behavior. Despite I abide by a correct attitude in the chat with other user I was accused to not respect grind’s terms unfairly. I cannot even creat a new account with a new email that any attempt is vain.

I got permanently banned yesterday too. I have been a user for 5 years and have basketball maintained my decorum. But just because I may have passed few ppl I don't like who reported me I am now permanently banned. What do I do? Is there an alternative?
