Getting UNBANNED must be faster - via live chat support or a 'second chance' feature
Hi all,
I just got banned while talking to a mate on Grindr. Out of the blue. No warning, no explanation, no nothing. This is all but ridiculous!
I've been using the app for, I don't remember how long now - 6+ years maybe, as it's still not possible to check account creation date despite my feedback to Grindr on the subject months ago - and their system banned me in an instant as if I was using fake ID, advertising, selling, you name it bannable misconduct. Obviously, none of these apply. Yet no first or second warning, nothing at all - just a 'Your account has been banned for violating our Guidelines or Terms of Service' message while I was online and chatting.
This said, I'd like to call for the introduction of a live chat service for users to be able to contact Grindr Support directly and in real time. Right now I'm not even sure whether my in-app report got sent or delivered, as there was no confirmation of any kind neither on-screen, nor via e-mail.
Another suggestion would be the implementation of a 'Second Chance' option that allows offenders to avoid getting permanently banned until another violation. Often, as in my case (although, mind you, I still don't know why I got banned), mistakes do occur - be it on user or app's side - and having the ability to 'postpone' a ban until human Support has decided whether it was a genuine offence that deserved or a ban or a second chance, or it was a mistake due to automated measure in place to prevent abuse.
My only and rather wild guess would be that I got banned for sending my mate a link to show him something. However, I've sent links before and there's never been an issue. I don't remember using an URL shortener though such as bit.do (as in this case). So, if this is what got me banned - a genuine, non-harmful link - I believe it would help many guys to know what EXACTLY is forbidden to send in a private (yeah, right - "private") message and what isn't. How was I even remotely supposed to know using this specific shortener could get me banned? Like, seriously!

We now link directly to a help page and ban appeal form when you get banned. Moderators typically review and respond to ban appeals within 1-2 days.

I had a spam bot sending me messages so in rage I sent a message back carry on sending me messages I will close you down and the spam bot replied and banned me it’s very annoying why doesn’t Grindr stop these nuisance spam bots.

I was told i was promoting the use of weapons, the admin didn't even look at my account before banning me. The only objects in my photos is me and the cloths i am wearing (no images or words relating to weapons on anyway).
Grinder ask over 100£ for mebership but then ban people for no reason. They have no respect for the users of the app and treat us very very badly. Its unacceptable. It should be taken down -

Banned for no reason. Automated responses from customer service are no help in resolving the issue and now those don’t even respond! It has been weeks still with no explaination of why I was banned.

Banned for no reason. Haven’t even used the app in days. No explanation given. This has happened to me before a few years ago and I was told someone had reported my profile. There should be actual proof to back up any claim you have spanned, been abusive, done something illegal or done something offensive. Shouldn’t just ban people for no reason, especially on the grounds that someone said so. Still confused what I’m supposed to have done.

I am actually annoyed Grindr always f***s up and we get no explanation? Wtf like I don’t understand it is the dumbest thing ever! I tried getting support and all they said was they couldn’t do anything and then they stopped replying. Now I can’t even make another account with my other email

what the h***, banned for no reason and customer support absolutely terrible when anyone is trying to gather further information regarding their suspension.

Same here. The **** with grindr seriously I am so ****** off. All of those archieved chats and favorited accounts MATTER TO US. Be at least responsible and clear enough with the reason of why I am banned.

What is your assurance that we really violated the user terms? What if that person who report to ban my account is really the rude one, because we are not compatible due to my preference and he is obviously obsessed with me? Why you can’t send our violations first and check our side. This is ridiculous that you are banning our account without a warning.

I got banned to and after many emails to ask why they still would not tell me...it seems Grindr will ban anyone they dont like for frivolous reasons..
