Getting UNBANNED must be faster - via live chat support or a 'second chance' feature
Hi all,
I just got banned while talking to a mate on Grindr. Out of the blue. No warning, no explanation, no nothing. This is all but ridiculous!
I've been using the app for, I don't remember how long now - 6+ years maybe, as it's still not possible to check account creation date despite my feedback to Grindr on the subject months ago - and their system banned me in an instant as if I was using fake ID, advertising, selling, you name it bannable misconduct. Obviously, none of these apply. Yet no first or second warning, nothing at all - just a 'Your account has been banned for violating our Guidelines or Terms of Service' message while I was online and chatting.
This said, I'd like to call for the introduction of a live chat service for users to be able to contact Grindr Support directly and in real time. Right now I'm not even sure whether my in-app report got sent or delivered, as there was no confirmation of any kind neither on-screen, nor via e-mail.
Another suggestion would be the implementation of a 'Second Chance' option that allows offenders to avoid getting permanently banned until another violation. Often, as in my case (although, mind you, I still don't know why I got banned), mistakes do occur - be it on user or app's side - and having the ability to 'postpone' a ban until human Support has decided whether it was a genuine offence that deserved or a ban or a second chance, or it was a mistake due to automated measure in place to prevent abuse.
My only and rather wild guess would be that I got banned for sending my mate a link to show him something. However, I've sent links before and there's never been an issue. I don't remember using an URL shortener though such as bit.do (as in this case). So, if this is what got me banned - a genuine, non-harmful link - I believe it would help many guys to know what EXACTLY is forbidden to send in a private (yeah, right - "private") message and what isn't. How was I even remotely supposed to know using this specific shortener could get me banned? Like, seriously!
Hoping for your support on this, lads.
Kind regards!
We now link directly to a help page and ban appeal form when you get banned. Moderators typically review and respond to ban appeals within 1-2 days.

Same has happened to me. I’ve used it for years & genuinely haven’t broken a rule. Now even if I sign in with a different address I’m banned. I’d love to know what I supposedly did?

Got banned randomly. Didn’t violate any guidelines. Made new account. That was banned in the same day. Made a new account next day, woke up today and it was banned. Again. No violation. No explanation. No communication. Pretty lame.

I am thinking about this problem some more. It may be the Russians who have hacked into
Grindr. Haha. They are anti gay and like to mess with American heads. **** Putin! I had to give my email address to post my comment here. Maybe he will come after that email account. 🙄Do not let all this upset you personally

Also, I believe all the bots on Grindr are hackers just creating mischief.

Guys. Do not torment yourself about being banned. You did nothing wrong. It is happening to many people for no reason. I have been banned twice.
I think hackers have invaded the system and are just creating chaos. They may just think it is funny or they may be anti gay.
Do not waste time appealing to Grindr. The good thing is you can create a new account with a different email address. Just delete your old app and start fresh. You lose your chat history but you are back in business.

I read a lot of stories here comparable to me. I've been rather active in reporting the wave of fake accounts. Today I replied to a few saying they are fake and bam, I'm reported and blocked for things I'm very sure I didn't do. Within 2 minutes of complaining I got message they would not lift my ban. When I asked them to check my chat behaviour to prove I did nothing wrong, all I got was silence. It's terrible customer service.

I also got banned for NO REASON. The site says I violated their Guidelines, but I know that to be false. I suspect that a faceless profile that messaged me may have filed an erroneous complaint, and then someone at Grindr banned my account without even verifying to see that I said nothing wrong, simply wasn't open to his advances. Have sent in a report, but no answer back as of yet. Totally unfair.

if you wanted to keep your account activated you had to fu*k with all frustrated people around you (or in the city you are visiting), Just because you told someone "not interested, sorry man" it's enough for the frustrated guy that receive your message to report you, all conditions are united for Grindr to bann you as they feel what frustrated people feel when they can't f*ck hot people like us, you can still send a message to Grindr but they will not read your message at all and they will just send you the same template message they send to everybody, I got 5 time the ame template from them, believe me, Grindr will never read your message, Grindr has been created by frustrated people and only for frustrated people, they are just jealouse that we can fu*k several time a day while they can't even have at least one shag per year...

I'm holidaying in Indonesia, which BANS Grindr (!!) lol
I access it through a VPN.
Been a user for 7 years w/o a single suspension or problem.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a pre-approved photo of me wrapped in a towel (no outline, no hair showing) gets ripped down. Never had a PRE-APPROVED photo (!!) taken down in 7 years of using the service.
Just so you know how innocuous this photo was, it was my fastest approved photo: like 30 seconds! Approved faster than a face pic!
Clearly there are authorities/homophobes here in Indonesia monitoring the grid and know that multiple reporting will get people banned so I feel I'm one step away from a complete ban.
I feel for all the users on here b/c Grindr is rewarding the HARASSERS who are 1) just people who couldn't accept a rejection, and 2) in my case, homophones stalking the Grindr grid with false reports so we get banned.
***Grindr should be very very careful about banning users based on "reporting" when this reporting system can be easily abused by not just frustrated rejected guys, but by the homophobic authorities in anit-gay countries!!***
In the meantime, block anybody w/o a clear face pic. Only pre-emptive action will save you from the harassers......

I get along well with everyone in Grindr, ofcourse I would occasionally encounter an a-hole jock head in there, but this morning I was on...friendly chat during the morning, a tease here, flirt there....then bame....Banned!!....I've reach out to grindr, in hoping I'd get an instant reply as to why I was banned, weather its from pure ignorance on my side or intentional....its seems as i am coming to terms of who I really am and live outside of my shell, I have to resort to hide again after being banned. Still worthless and nvr good enough for myself.....heart breaking

I've been banned twice on two different accounts in the past two days, haven't had any issues in the past ten years. I haven't violated any TOS. It's because I simply rejected someone and said "Not my type," and now they are reporting me every time they see me on. SMH. I'll just go to another app.

Nov 21, 16:48 PSTI don’t thank you for your crummy response. Irregularities because I want to post the same photos that you allow other users to post. Your guidelines are NOT the same for everyone, if they were, you would really be suspending escorts, drug dealers, porn stars and what you deem worthy beautiful people to get their underwear or suggestive photos approved. Yes, I was trying to post photos where I was wearing exactly the same attire as other profiles. You have proved my point. I actually do appreciate the ban. Maybe you should update your algorithms in your next app version to stop the real scammers and use your human capital on better productive projects other than denying someone’s selfie in swimwear, indoors because god forbid... nobody does that.!. and then goes on to post it on a well known SEX site. Who is your staff kidding? Thanks Grindr! Your mission to provide a safe and secure space for your users anywhere to connect to and discover their world have succeeded! Glad a spam account, in your alleged words, could achieve that!

Same problem here. Not only they banned permanently from grinder with no explanation or reason Grinder also ghosted me on Instagram so that all my comments are only visible to me and not to other users. They are taking this to another level.
They claim to stand up for discrimination..... you tell me.

OGM... So many reports in recent weeks, yet Grindr is doing nothing about it! That's really disappointing. Why would anyone would want to subscribe to their expensive extras if we could get banned indefinitely for doing nothing wrong?
@Everyone currently banned for no reason – don't settle for the first generic response you get, guys. Insist on being given a specific reason for your ban, so you can explain why it is actually wrong (automated) or plain made-up. Insist on seeing proof of your alleged offense. I personally got banned for something that wasn't even in the so called Guidelines, yet it took them 3 weeks to lift the ban.
