This would encourage members to fully complete their profile, in a way that supports their privacy and discretion without a mandate. It would also inspire a much-needed culture of fair play and non-discrimination on the app.
Something like this *needs* to be done to help put an end to incomplete and blank profiles. With more detailed profiles available in the community, members would enjoy easier browsing, more effective filtering, and overall better connections. The user experience would improve tenfold.Porter supported this idea ·
With the NDNC feature turned on, only profiles showing their distance will be able to start a chat with you. Unless located in a country with anti-gay legislation, profiles attempting to message you with their distance hidden will encounter a pop-up alert that informs them, “This user does not accept messages from profiles hiding their distance. To initiate messaging, please show your distance or send your location.” They can then choose (within the pop-up) whether to show their distance or send their location, or else exit the chat. This would ensure transparency between users and cut down on those wasting others’ time.
