Modernizing Grindr Liquid Glass, Better Reporting and Greater Transparency
Hello Grindr Team,
I believe Grindr is in need of a major modernization. Compared with many other current apps, parts of its design feel outdated. Beyond updating the interface, I believe the reporting system, safety features and technical processes need significant improvements.
- A modern design with Liquid Glass
It would be really cool if Grindr introduced a modern design inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass. A polished, contemporary and fluid interface could make the app look and feel much more up to date without making it harder to use.
- A faster and more reliable reporting system
When users report inappropriate behavior, harassment, fake profiles or other violations, it often feels as though nothing happens. This is frustrating and creates the impression that reports are not being taken seriously enough.
An automated system could initially sort and prioritize incoming reports and identify obvious violations. Serious, unclear or particularly sensitive cases should also be reviewed by human moderators. This could make the process faster without relying entirely on automated decisions.
- A dedicated section for reports and moderation actions in the settings
It would be very helpful to have a clear section in the app settings where users can review their submitted reports, received warnings and other moderation actions. Users should be able to see whether a report has been received, reviewed or closed and whether action was taken.
Of course, confidential information and the personal data of other users should remain protected. Simple status updates such as “Under review,” “Resolved – action taken” or “Resolved – no action taken” would already make a significant difference.
- The ability to attach photos and evidence directly to reports
When reporting a profile or a chat, users should be able to attach relevant screenshots or other appropriate evidence directly through the app. This would be particularly useful for harassment, threats, scams and unsolicited or otherwise prohibited nude images.
I understand that restricting certain screenshot functions in chats can help protect privacy. However, this also creates a problem: when users need to report a potential violation, they may have no practical way to preserve or submit the relevant evidence directly. Sometimes the only option is to photograph the screen using another device. This is inconvenient, often produces lower-quality evidence and should not be the only practical solution.
A secure way to submit relevant content directly through the reporting process would be much more effective. Privacy, secure storage and the protection of everyone involved must remain priorities. Clear safeguards would be particularly important when handling sensitive content, including nude images.
- Unique user IDs for profiles
Some profiles have no name, no profile picture or very little identifying information. This can make it difficult to identify the correct account when reporting a problem.
I suggest introducing a unique, persistent user ID that is visible in the profile information or an appropriate menu. Users could enter this ID when submitting a report, allowing support staff to identify the correct account even if its display name or profile picture changes or disappears.
The ID should not reveal private information and should be designed with privacy in mind.
- Clear decisions and greater transparency
Users should be able to understand whether their reports have been reviewed and whether any action was taken, without receiving confidential information about other people. Warnings and restrictions affecting their own accounts should also include clear explanations of the relevant rule and information on how to request a review.
Overall, I would like to see a more modern, reliable and secure app. A refreshed design, a more efficient reporting system, secure evidence submission and a transparent section for reports and moderation actions would significantly improve the Grindr experience.
These improvements are not just about adding new features. They are about making users feel heard and ensuring that people receive better support when genuine problems occur.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
