Filters for the Chub Community
As a Chub, I’ve been ignored, rejected, and, at times, discriminated against because of my body size. It can feel isolating when you’re part of a community that’s harder to find on the app. Sometimes it genuinely feels like I don’t belong. One idea that came to mind is improving Grindr’s filters to make it easier for people with shared interests and preferences to connect.
I think “Chub” and “Chaser” should be available as filter options under Tribes. Adding this feature would make it much easier for chubs and people who are genuinely attracted to them to find each other, reducing frustration and creating more meaningful connections. It would be also incredibly helpful to add a filter for “What you’re into” or “What they’re into.” For example, users could filter for people who are into chubs, bears, twinks, leather, or other preferences they’ve chosen to display on their profile. This would help match people based on mutual attraction and interests instead of leaving everyone to guess.
These changes wouldn’t just benefit the plus-size community. They would improve the experience for everyone by making connections more intentional and reducing unnecessary rejection. Dating apps work best when they help people find those who are genuinely interested in them, and better filters could make Grindr feel more inclusive for all of its communities.
