Separate browsing from meeting: add an opt-in adult profile feed
Many people appear to use Grindr primarily to browse bodies, request albums, exchange pictures, or get visual stimulation, while other users are there specifically to meet someone in person. Because these intentions are mixed together in the same grid and inbox, people often initiate conversations that imply genuine interest even though they only want more pictures.
Grindr should introduce an opt-in, adults-only profile feed or gallery—something like an NSFW Instagram—where users can post multiple pictures or short videos for passive browsing. People who only want to look could view the content without messaging someone, requesting an album, or pretending they might meet.
Someone looking to meet could prioritize other people who are genuinely available, while someone who only wants to browse would have a space designed for that.
The goal is to separate visual consumption from actual interaction. This could reduce misleading conversations, picture requests, endless chatting, and frustration while making Grindr more useful for both kinds of users.
Because of mobile app-store restrictions, Grindr could offer the fully adult feed through Grindr Web while allowing users to manage their feed and viewing preferences from the app
