IT'S TIME TO RETIRE THE POSITION HIERARCHY PROBLEM
@Grindr @GrindrSupport Let's talk about position labels.
Right now we use: Top → Vers Top → Vers → Vers Bottom → Bottom.
That's not a spectrum. That's a ranking system. And we all know it.
"Top" sounds dominant. "Bottom" sounds submissive. Even if that's not the intent, the cultural baggage is real—and it creates stigma, shame, and misrepresentation. Users pick labels based on what they think others want to see, not what they actually are.
So here's my proposal: retire the hierarchy. Go scientific.
Insertive / Vers-Insertive / Versatile / Vers-Receptive / Receptive.
This isn't about being woke. It's about being accurate. Insertive and Receptive describe acts, not identities. They're neutral, clinical, and already used in sexual health research. No ego. No judgment. Just compatibility.
Grindr is the biggest queer app on the planet. We deserve language that reflects who we actually are—not a leftover social ladder.
Small change. Massive impact. Less shame. Better matches. More honesty.
