Feature Request: Add a Bluetooth-Based Private Discovery Mode (Blink Link™ Concept)
Add a Bluetooth-Based Private Discovery Mode (Blink Link™ Concept)
Hi Grindr Team,
I wanted to share a a patented feature concept that I believe could align perfectly with Grindr’s mission of creating safe, real-time connections—especially in physical spaces like bars, clubs, and LGBTQ+ events.
The idea is called Blink Link™—a Bluetooth-powered, internet-free discovery tool that quietly scans for nearby users within ~300 feet and displays anonymous “vibe tags” like:
• “Looking to chill after the party”
• “Here with friends—say hi if you’re around”
• “Curious but discreet—just exploring”
If someone taps on a vibe tag and the other person accepts, it opens a private chat. No swiping, and no GPS needed.
⸻
Why It’s a Fit for Grindr:
• Supports Bi-Curious Users Discreetly: It provides a private, low-pressure way for people—especially bi-curious or questioning individuals—to connect without having to walk up in person or fear awkwardness and rejection.
• Internet-Free Matching: Perfect for nightlife, festivals, or travel spots where cell service may be weak.
• Privacy-First: No maps or tracking—just real-time discovery via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
• Vibe-Based Interaction: Encourages spontaneous, casual social moments—without broadcasting a full profile.
I’d love to explore this further or collaborate on what it could look like inside Grindr—either as a new feature or experimental mode.
Thank you for your time and all the work you do to support safe, meaningful LGBTQ+ connection.
Warmly,
James Willis
