Ethnicity
As many others on here have stated, please bring back ethnicity filter. As dating app Bumble states:
Why we ask about ethnicity
We ask an optional question about your race and ethnicity to understand members better, improve representation, and help make Bumble a more inclusive space. We’ve listened to feedback and we’ll use this information to help folks from systematically marginalised backgrounds connect with each other, because we know this is important to many of you.
Helping marginalized communities connect with each other. Have you considered your lack of an ethnicity filter may be doing more harm than good?
My niece, who is white, prefers to date men of color. So, she wants a dating app that lets her explore her preferences. Does that make her racist toward white men?
Me, I’m most attracted to Asian men sexually and romantically, but my friends are all the colors of the rainbow. Does that make me racist?
While I think your intentions were good, this is the wrong way to address racism. Plus, as I can tell on this comment board, I’m not alone in my sentiment. I’m using other apps much more that allow filtering by ethnicity.
Instead, how about a no tolerance policy for users who demonstrate actual racist speech or actions?
