Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

Hello,
I recently read an article that you were going to remove listing and filtering ethnicities.
I support anti-racism movements, but an individual on a dating application has personal choice of what they are attracted to on a number of levels - levels which are independent of racism and are not controllable, but inherent. If you remove ethnicity, can you not make the case to remove height, age and any other description that someone can filter you out by? Under your proposal of removing ethnicity, you have to remove every filter that could eliminate someone being judged by their physical traits, behaviours and conditions.
In fact, you will be making the app less effective for your clients and cause people to place their preferences in the write-up, which may come across more exclusionary and offensive. I fear you will frustrate your end consumer and create further offensive reactions as you are forcing more transparent rejection.
Racism is about keeping or putting someone down based on race, this is about someone’s individual personal attraction that is not intended to cause harm. it’s not saying it’s better or worse , it’s a fact to which one can decide with how they want.
I think someone filtering ethnicity discreetly is better than forcing frustrations, reactions and write ups that may further cause a offensive reaction - warranted or not.
To support anti-racism cures, I would do something to educate or change perceptions than to remove a physical description. Removing ethnicity won’t make some one suddenly consider someone they did not consider before. It will just create more direct hurt.
Just a thought

Your comments are exactly why these filters should be removed.

How about don’t take away the race filter? It’s not like you have paying customers who specifically have an XTRA subscription to find the group of people they’re most interested in. Having a preference in certain types of men isn’t racist.

I find that the fact the you have the ‘Tribes’ option as a free option and not race is not right. As a black man who lives in a mainly white area, I struggle with connecting with people. I face discrimination from local profiles and sometimes really racist responses. I believe this is now a change that is needed. I am sure I can get the votes on this via social media, as many would agree and have faced similar issues too.

I have read Grinders comments about removing the 'ethnicity' in solidarity with the black lives matter campaign. I think this is a terrible idea. Ethnicity does not equate to racism. Far from encouraging freedom of choice, it actually limits freedom of choice and would also serve to isolate many people and groups. You cannot and should not be able to prescribe physical preferences or force people to conform to your ideas. People (black, white, asian, old, young, transgender or bi) are entitled to choose who they interact with. This is a fundamental freedom in any free society.

I’ve just read that you are going to get rid of ethnicity preferences in your next update. Please do not. There may be some that use this based on their own racism but there are millions of us that don’t and use it in a positive way and pay for xtra to use this facility. If this he goes then I may consider using other apps instead.

Using this filter does NOT equal racist behavior. I have only been attracted to latin And Asian guys since I can remember. I’m white. Since pre-school this is who I gravitate toward— Not white and not black. I have tons of friends of all races/ethnicities but my attraction is only with latin/Asian. Without this filter I have a hard time getting to these guys in Atlanta. :-(
There IS a huge difference between racism and predilection. I don’t think GrNDR should cowtow to the latest trend or be misguided to believe this is a form of racism in this current movement.

Ethnicity filters are being removed. This may lead to other filters being removed (weight, body type, etc). With this we need easier blocking capabilities, particularly the ability to block multiple accounts at once from the grid.
If users have to see the same faces they aren't interested in, and it is tedious to block them to remove them from the grid, they will move to other apps.
Make it a xtra feature as those filters once were.

Don’t bow to idiots who say the ethnic search is racist. There are black guys who fancy white guys. White guys who thinks Asian guys are hot and vice versa. Just like gay guys who search for Twinks or bears. That why the app works! I will cancel my app if you do this! Next you’ll be adding women because it’s sexist not to! Pure crazy. The last acceptable phobia is homophobia. Don’t allow the crazy left wing to ruin our little App! They probably don’t even have Grindr and just want to cause trouble.

Three moronic posting. from saddos looking for racism so they can virtue-signal.
This is a dating site. Ethnicity brings with is questions of physical characteristics that are a turn on or tuirn off, cultural aspects that may make it impossible to progress. The ability to filter out those one is not interested in is mutually beneficial rather than wasting time introducing and for that reason the more information the better.
Many people don't post up pics and some don't want to send them. They have their reasons and I respect them. I'm not bothered by race but I respect the fact that others personal tastes are raise relevant and oh yes, you bigots who claim that it is racist to need to know ethnicity need to take on board that on a site like this it is very often somebody seeking a race other than their own.
I do not agree that it should be a required field but it really helps and the reason for putting you ethnicity in is simply not to have your time wasted by eliminating the uninterested from even messaging you.
It's that simple.

What's the point if they can choose to hide it or not. Put it in the filters to be able to search for the ethnicity that you prefer.

We should be able to filter all results by refining the criteria

I'd appreciate if you can add Country as a part of profile and a filter so I can select a partner or a friend from a specific country.
For example, I like to connect with people from Indian origin. -

Pacific islanders are a distinct group with features that don't fit under your current ethnicity categories. You should add this ethnicity both for islanders to feel represented in this app and for their admirers to be able to utilize the search filters.

In response to the March 5th comment, yes: but make them actual ethnicities. For God's sake, they have Asian and South Asian...how is Asian one thing but South Asian is another thing...Make the words be real. And East Asian and South Asian aren't even ethnicities either, they are geographical areas, although I guess I see what they're saying. But it might be better if I could write in: Japanese, Indian. And maybe put a language. I don't know. The whole thing is a sham to me.

Seems a bit racist that Whites are excluded from the Ethnicity filter. Or are you trying to be a bit too PC?
