Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

This has nothing to do with racism. Ethnicity is a physical feature just like body type. Are you gong to remove body type to prevent body shaming? We pay for this service for the filters. Everyone has preferences on physical features. Brig it back now.

People use this app to find a date based on preferences. My preference is Asian and Latino. Not black. If i wish to set my preferences like this then I’m supposed to be able to do so. Stop this ongoing blm trend and focus on what this app is meant to do

Where'd the ethnicity filter go? Please reinstate it.

I agree - it's not racist at all to have a type. I'm not white yet I'm into white guys - that doesn't make me racist.

All you said about BLM was just pinkwashing?

Islanders do not fit under Asian or black categories. The app should represent them as a distinct category, as it does Native Americans who would also not fit under either of those categories.

Its not discriminatory - Its rather anti-discriminatory to remove a feature that could be used for targeting individuals for violence, catfishing, etc. based upon race. The criminal law imposes a legal duty on Grindr to prevent their services from being used to perpetrate hate crimes as defined under federal law, which means after discovery that the feature was being used for illegal discriminatory purposes, it essentially had to go. Every app is probably going to be the same on this point in the near future.

Deleting the ethnicity search is short sighted and discriminatory. I used it to find a ethnic group I am attracted to and I can’t because you assume it is a radio thing to search what what someone likes. Whoever decided to delete this function is so lost in this woke society. To assume everyone uses it for “hate” is so ignorant. Ever stop to think that people use to find people they are attracted to? It is possible to be or not to be attracted to races other than your own. If this is so hard to understand than ask every gay person why they are not attracted to the opposite ***! Or is that next, you’ll tell me that I have to be attracted to the opposite *** because someone might get offended .
I would like the search back. If not, I understand this app is a business and I and many other people will take our business elsewhereThank you for your time

Dude please. Been saying this for years. We're not Asian, we have our own bubble to mark on all documents now. We're our own people.

I read recently that this feature maybe removed on the grounds of racial abuse, This nonsense. I am white and I prefer Asians (sexually). This is not racsism it's a ****** preference. It's the only reason I ever buy Xtra and without it I would never buy Xtra again. So keep the feature in so we can filter to find our ****** preference

Hi. I think you're making a big mistake by eliminating the ability to screen by ethnicity. I suppose you mean well, but the reality is that most POCs use that screen to eliminate the possibility of the very racist abuse that your company says it's necessary to remove the filter to avoid. White South Africans are *very" racist, and if you live in a border racial residential area, you will get far more nonblack people than black people. You're basically exposing us to the potential for racist abuse by doing something that you think should result in the opposite. Did you all consult POCs in various countries before working to remove that filter? Or even POCs at your company who primarily associate with other POCs for safety reasons? Every black-identified black person I know is working, since the announcement, on trying to create other ways in social media to contact like minded people since Grindr is making it harder, especially during these lockdowns. I think you should reconsider the filter decision or make it in a country by country basis. I have lived in South America and Europe as well as the USA and South Africa. There are numerous reasons, that are safety related which limit who we can take around our neighborhoods, and removing the ability to meet people with that in mind has the potential to make things go pearshaped. So yeah, please reconsider. Thanks.

Most of us find the filters useful and why should you want to remove our right to choose what we want?
Also, why waste your time on people who don't like your ethnic type? Let them filter you out. You deserve better than them. -

You're over-complicating something that most of us are perfectly happy with. So what if physical race is more social construction than actually physical? We're fine using the broad ethnic categories and find them useful.
Please get a life. Go away! -

It is 2020. Racism has never been acceptable and it is especially not acceptable now. This feature literally enables racism and discrimination on an app that claims to be about community. Racial “preferences” = racism! These preferences are rooted in racism Because they are literally saying people of certain races are not worth of having *** with them. This disproportionally affects black, brown, and Asian men when the goal should be a safe space of all gay and ******** men/trans people. If people feel so strongly about these “preferences” they can take the time to sift through people’s profiles that to find the ones they find attractive.
The fact that this app seeks to make more money by prosper wanting to discriminate against certain ethnicities is appalling!
