I deleted my paid membership and I am switching to a different apps after irealized that search for my personal preferences is now impossible and I'm getting contacted much less frequently. I suggest you do the same.

It's incredible that Grindr removed such a feature without notifying its users. As a whit man - not interested in other white men - it became impossible to search for somebody as there are probably 90% of white profiles.

I find it really a symbolic things rather than a meaningful action. Even with a filter, if somebody doesn't want to be searched by ethnicity, they just needed not to specify anything in their profile, it was not a mandatory field.

It looks like Grindr staff is unable to make a distinction between racial discrimination (which is hateful) with personal ****** preferences (which is not a crime).

I personally lost interest in Grindr if I can't search for the people I am interested in, and I have realized that since the filter features have been reduced, I also get contacted less frequently. A sign that interest for this app is declining?

I agree They did not consult the community and saying that feature is racist is bogus ideology and disrespects all of us. If they do not restore the feature I will not renew my membership. This is an insult and a taking away Of freedom of choice. Is it racist if a white guy wants to find an Asian or Latin or Black or mixed guy????? What nonsense!

I’m really sad I updated Grindr app which removed the ethnicity filters. Many guys who are attracted to a particular race will find a different app. People will find a different app that will allow it. I love everyone but I’m really only attracted black guys and I’m white. The unintended consequence of removing them wasn’t thought through and gays will gravitate to an app that allows it. Hope your choice to remove them is worth it Grindr. Just making it more difficult to find guys they are attracted to will cut your business...

You MUST bring back ETHNICITY FILTER you are stolen our money. I have my preference and we payed for that. I am not using Grindr anymore and not pay anymore for a fraud!!!

While a colorblind approach to social justice is admirable, I cannot be the only person who appreciates the option to search for partners on the basis of race or ethnicity. I do not believe Grindr should have the capacity to censor my personal preferences in this way.... Most especially when I am paying for the premium options. Diversity is a beautiful thing. Personal preference is a matter of liberty and free choice. Refusing to acknowledge that the world's population is, indeed, diverse and that individuals have a right to their own personal preferences is myopic and irrational. I don't think any of us are here because we desire to be taught a lesson about race relations by Grindr. Just provide us with the options we are accustomed to and express your advocacy in some other way.

Instead of Grindr helping BLM by removing ethnicity filter, they have actually lessened the chance you can interact with other ethnicities. For anyone wanting to connect with people of color (or not), you have now lost that choice. If Grindr truly wants everyone included, remove all filters. Are people too ignorant to see that this filter is excluding versus including all people? If you are paying for membership I encourage you to stop until Grindr truly includes all people.

I hate this app now. You are making see everything I would have gotten to filter out before, that's way too much money a month to deal with guys I'm not attracted to. I'm done with grindr now this is ridiculous and I will not renew or return, we pay to have those choices and I don't appreciate you taking those choices away and still charging me the same amount.

Suddenly we can’t filter by ethnicity? That’s not right at all. Sorry, but it’s not up to me who I’m attracted to and if I want to search for or exclude a certain ethnicity I should be allowed to do so.

How do you remove the choice of ethnicity, but we can still discriminate against all other fields?

Ironically speaking all of those filters including age, body type represent a “racism in a diff sort”. The biggest irony is then Grindr should be open not only for the “gays”. Would this not be a sexism on its own right by excluding females or lesbians or the “straights”? Just saying...
It is NOT the personal preferences that make a person a racist. It is rather how you treat others starting from how you greet or politely decline any conversation shall you not want to be engaged.
Just like food preferences, some may like Italian or French or Mexican or Asian or other cuisines. Just because you may not find a particular cuisine delicious (or being “attractive” in the context of “dating” world), it does not make you a racist. It’s just simply a matter of personal preferences. The filters are designed to help users to narrow down the list of people one would be interested to engage in. Nothing more than than that. To generalise ethnicity filter as racism = simply dumb and obviously it is a waste of time trawling through the endless list of people you may not even be interested to “date” with.
So, please waste don’t time and bring the filter back ;)
