Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

Who the F@c& are you to decide what "my type" can be? Be attracted to a white is no more different than smooth vs hairy or older vs younger. It's not racial discrimination but rather a ****** attraction. If that weren't the case, I'd be screwing females over males. Typical stupid PC nonsense. I want my $$ back!!

Ethnicity filter back or my money back? Why would they take it away without forewarning users who paid to upgrade.

As an African American, I believe that any effort to dismantle racism, that is well intentioned, is effort well spent. While the removal of the ethnicity filter offers new opportunities to see and be seen by those outside of our ethnic preference, I’m afraid the change— for African Americans, does more harm than good.
For example, I am a NYC native. The removal of the ethnicity filter brings a constant reminder of the effects of gentrification and how different my once “ethnic” community has changed— and how many of us have sadly been pushed out.
Statistically speaking, it is much more difficult for African Americans to connect in LGBTQI safe spaces within their communities simply because they do not exist. (Yes even in NYC, Manhattan is merely a fraction of the city yet a feigned perception of the entire city).
Last, and in light of Grindr’s allegiance with the Black Lives Matter movement: Blacks were economically impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic disproportionate to whites. This means that blacks will be less likely to afford premium browsing features and will be even more limited in finding compatible connections on the app. The idea here should be to celebrate the healthy union of two (or more ?) people, especially black couples as there are less successful black LGBTQI relationships that exist and even fewer in the public eye.

Bring back the feature where you can specify what race guy you are looking for! It’s been so difficult without it! So many people are now looking for an alternative to grindr because of this!

Furthermore, if you genuinely wanted to tackle racism through the app you would at the very least add it into one of the novelty chat circles you’ve implemented instead of just “meme round up” and “drag race all stars” chats to facilitate for learning. What do you hope to achieve through maki it harder for people to interact with who they are going to regardless?
Also, to the ignorant comment below no doubt left by a fragile white ego, the fact that you think it is racist highlights that you do not understand the difference between a minority’s preference and an oppressive racial group’s “preference”- the latter is invalid because of the inequality set out by a history of racist oppression integrated within society. Google it.

This kind of filter allows people to target minority groups for criminal acts. The security issue outweighs any user preference issue.

No, filtering makes it easier to target people of minority races for criminal acts. Such a security issue outweighs the issue of user preference.

This would be incredibly racist.

Not everyone is attracted to same things. But we all socially and cognitively respect every race and gender. Please add ethnicity filter back to improve our viewing efficiency and user experience. Nothing political. I know what my values are and also lucky enough to know what I am attracted to profoundly.

I agree, it’s not racist to filter what you would like to see. Forcing people to have no options is if anything the opposite of freedom. People aren’t magically going to be attracted to what they aren’t by seeing more people.

Bring back this filter or nobody is going to renew and you will lose all your audience
