I would prefer for there to be an ethnic group choice of preference for all

Hi,

I appreciate Grindr's support with regards towards racial inequality and injustices -- I really do. It's an important issue that needs to be addressed, and companies should be applauded for taking a meaningful stance.

But, I cancelled my premium subscription today because the app no longer lets me filter by the guys I would like to see.

I'm kind of confused by this change, to be honest. I know many Asian men who only want to date other Asian men, or many Latino men who feel that they'd prefer to date men who come from a similar background. Removing that filter makes the app objectively less effective in allowing users to filter profiles based on their established preferences.

This change won't influence the end game of any man who wants to date men of the ethnicity he wants to -- so really the change only hurts the end user and as a result, this quite honestly feels like a virtue signal rather than a product enhancement in line with social responsibility.

Best of luck, but I won't be subscribing going forward.

Agreed! I'm sick of going out of my way to block person after person after person! Filters! Hello? No brainer with this one. Smh

When using the filter for ethnicity, it does not work. Simply brings up guys of all ethnicity.
I'm currently on a free trial for 7 days, and so far, pretty unimpressed.
Could you tell me if this is a bug that's being looked into, please?

Bring it back. I also paid for a year and now my subscription isn't worth as much. Refund or bring it back.

Having the ability to select the ethnicity of guys you find attractive will make for a better experience

Caveat: I’m a major BLM supporter. Glad to see something positive emerge from the pandemic. BUT, please re-enable the ethnicity feature. I do not believe that our community expressed outrage over the years for listing and being able to search ethnicity preference. This is a hookup and dating app. We should be able to filter and self-police. We don’t need your software developers doing that for us, thank you very much. What’s next NO AGE FILTER because we’re being agist? That’ll be the day and the end of Grindr, ha.

People are people. On your logic, this platform is currently discriminatory on the grounds of *** (women are excluded), gender identity, and age (among others). Maybe someone will go to the general social media or the press with a story that Grindr Is sexist, genderist, and ageist, while it has rapidly removed ethnicity filters to be simply politically correct without thinking it through properly. Having an ethnicity filter is not racist, there is no special racial privilege, and it does not lead to hate crimes.
Your approach h should be evidence-based: how many complaints had you had insisting the filter be removed because it was racist. Precious few, I suspect, if any.
I think platforms that keep ethnicity filters will over time increase their market share from Grindr.
So please bring it back, for our sakes and yours.

Why is grindr making it more difficult for guys to find guys they’re attracted to? Just because someone is only attracted to Latinos, Black, Asian, white - whatever, it doesn’t make them racist. It’s just their ****** preference.

I agree. Just like people look for tops and bottoms, various ages, heights, etc., people haver preferences for race. I don't get it. I'm NOT ageist, heightist, sexual preference ist, nor racist.
