Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

you need to put the filters back in they have to do with ethnic if you don't I'll never ever pay for Grindr it's very inconvenient and now I got a bunch of people hitting on me that I'm totally uninterested then it's a big waste of time it's getting to be disgusting I'm looking for other apps but I haven't found any yet you realize that this has nothing to do with racism don't you it has to do with personal turn ons just because I am turned on by Asians doesn't mean that I dislike other white people or that I dislike black people this is not the case you guys are ignorant and trying to say that we don't have a right to decide who we want our mates to be and it's a big waste of time looking and looking and looking and not finding I hate it put the ethnic filters back on it was ridiculously stupid

For the HIV status you can select all tribes except for Poz.
The removal of the ethnicity filter has been a reckless decision and very offensive attempt to school their users on who they are allowed to connect with.

Grindr board of directors is pandering the most racist and fascist left wing activists, those ones who want to get into your bed and accusing you of being racist if they don't sleep with ethnic group X, Y or Z.
It's the new trend of being progressing, is all about mind control and various control freakeries, grindr deserve to disappear from the market for schooling they users about who they should connect with.

why only minorities should have the minority privilege of being entitled to have sexual preferences and why any one else should be denied the most natural and basic fact of life?
what constitutes minority? in a white area a white man is not allowed to search for mixed race guys? so a white mean living in a mixed race area shouldn't be allowed to search for white guys?
who is going to police this? and what if the ethnic composition of the grid changes over time?

Spot on! Regarding dating and sexual desire, people have preferences and these are undebatable. Black people are being VICTIMISED and EXPLOITED by the political left, mostly white people as the original author said, in order to bring forward their sick, manipulative and toxic social engineering agenda which now consists of banning sexual preferences, criminalising desire and FORCING anyone to spend their energies to connect with the people they do not want to connect with, instead of searching for a matching partner. This is totally sick and must stop now.

SCRUFF is going to put back the ethnic filter, I sent a message to the support team and they replied that they're working on that. I guess they have to find out a way to RIGHTFULLY bring back the ethnicity filter without calling it ethnicity filter so that the people who pretend to police the sexual preferences of the gay world don't have a foothold to start another witch hunt.

I don’t see why I can’t have the ability to filter out ethnicities to which I am not biologically attracted to. Next thing you’ll be adding women on a gay men social app because not having them might be perceived as sexist.... this is ridiculous.

Someone thought it was racist to have the filters. I’m sorry - it’s a sexual attraction issue - nothing to do with racial discrimination... bring it back!

I agree. There are just way too many white guys and harder to find others without ethnicity filter. Trust me, everywhere you go and when you check grindr, you will find a bunch of white guys....too many white guys. Without ethnicity filter, make it way way harder for the minorities to find others.
This is really stupid.....bring it back. I wonder why they made this decision, was it because people in china that bought this app are clueless about race issues?

I just posted a comment regarding the ethnicity filter and it posted with my full name. Why aren't public comments on an app many people use anonymously, anonymous?
And if public, why not warn us? Wtf Grindr? Is anyone thinking over there? Do better!

I date multiple races but white guys dominate the app in my neighborhood. I have to scroll through pages and pages of white guys to find Latin, Black or Asian guys. And searching out a particular race in itself isn't racist. Forcing people to scroll through countless White guys when we're looking for a different type of guy is why the filter was helpful.

I think searching by ethinicity should be reinstated. Lots of races are only intersted in different races or the same
To search for that doesnt say youre racist. It just says what flavor you prefer -

Yes. Filtering by ethnicity is not a negative action on your app. It is an attraction preference.

A big part of why I pay for a subscription is the filters. Why did you remove the ethnicity filter? I’m assuming someone decided it was racist or otherwise discriminatory. Guess what? So is filtering by height, weight, age, etc. Not typically being sexually attracted to a race does not make you racist in the general sense. Please restore that filter or remove all of the filters. Otherwise it’s hypocrisy.

A preference is a preference.
Why have ALL the filters been removed?
This just makes the app boring to use, scrolling endlessly to find a match.
For the record I am white and not into other white guys.
My preference is my choice, it should not be dictated to me. -

Let's be honest, most of the times these filters are applied when you only wanna see white guys. Racial preference may not look as terrible as shouting the N word to a black guy, or Ch*nk to an Asian person, it is still racism. It's a short sight. If you don't like people you see on the app, block them yourself, if you find yourself not attracted to most guys around you and have to block all the time, face your own problem and face your racial preferences. Grindr is doing a positive thing for many of you so that the world you "see" is not just a world of white dudes. Big props for Grindr for getting rid of the racial preference filter to encourage the same exposure for gay guys of all colors.

I have to travel for work. Granted, not as much due to COVID, but its still "a must" for my job. As a person of color, I find it frustrating that this filter has been removed.
Sometimes I use this filter to find and connect with other people of color who can give me tips on simple things like, where can I find a local barber who knows how to cut/style my type of hair, where can I navigate safely in the area, where can I go to get products/services specific to me, or which areas can I go to where I'll be welcome.
I find it short-sighted for Grinder to have arbitrarily removed this filter without considering that it was a nice tool on one of the few platforms popular enough that it actually helped like-individuals to network and share information relevant to their ethnicity group...at least it use to.
Its already hard enough for some groups to effectively find each other and network. Although I understand the good intentions behind removing the filter, the actual effect of this policy just imposes a hardship on minority communities who are just trying to stay connected. Ever hear of adverse impact?
Clearly, this was a well intended but poorly thought out decision that was probably made in an "ivory" tower without solicitating diverse feedback.
However, I can't help but to point out that its still perfectly fine for the app to filter out people who are too old, too short, too heavy, too trans or too positive. Make it make sense. And, because I know you can't make sense of it, just reverse this ill thought out policy.
