PLEASE. I don't care if other people my age want to hook up with much older people, thats their choice! I want to have a choice where I'm not constantly message by guys 30 years older than me who I'm not into. I think it would do a lot to improve the app.

The age filtering system needs updating. I don't want people outside of my set age range seeing my profile. For instance I set my max to 35 I don't want someone 57 seeing my pricing and messaging me. I can't help I'm only attracted to certain age range and I don't want grandpas messaging me!!!! Please update that!!!

You should be forced to enter your age to allow filters to work accurately. However still have the option to hide your age.
Example, I search an age group, but those who do not have an age showing are then excluded from my search. If they were forced to enter it to allow searches to work better, this would be much more useful.

For us older users, it would be helpful to have a category that indicates what age category is looking for. Also, body hair categories.

The app should allow you to set the age range on your personal preferences (like TRIBE, BODY TYPE etc…) then create a new filter like LOOKING FOR MY AGE (on/off) to display only people interested on your age.

Not so fast, I happen to be one and there are many, like me they are looking for older, younger, as well as near the same age. I happen to have a broad range but generally older than 45, younger than that it seems maturity and criminal stupidity are common denominators so I eliminate a large swath of them w/that general rule. I'm 62
OK after reading some very insightful comments I'm inclined to agree w/this age filter thing too. I can't understand why anyone can get mad about a choice. Be it age or any reason as long as your not insulting about the rejection of their attention. If they get mad, block them. I have specific choices and some are pushy and impatient. Makes me feel their up to no good anyway, why the hurry and meet crap.

It could be interesting to be able to filter the age of people who can see my profile. If I don’t want to be contacted by people out of a specific age range.

The actual age filter is to search for men WHO HAVE the ages set by the filter.
What I am requesting is to be able to filter out men who DO NOT WANT to contact people of my age.

There is an option to filter the age & you don't have to pay anything for that. It's absolutely free. You will find the age filter option on the top right corner of the app. There you just click it and then Choose the min and Max age group that you are looking for.

You really should require age to be displayed. And using the age filter doesn't show you anyone who has their age hidden.

When filtering by age the from age says "No min" which isn't true as there shouldn't be any under 18s on Grindr.
I think Grindr may know this but chooses to turn a blind eye as they hope these early users will turn into Xtra users when they get a credit card.

This would definitely be a great addition. I'm tired of the people that take it as a personal insult that I'm just not interested in older guys. Whether you like it or not, I just never get along with older people. It's never happened in the past, and likely never will. I'm not attracted to them either, so letting them see my profile and then message me when there's literally 0 chance I'd ever bother is just ridiculously stupid.

It's like how they don't allow you to filter by position (top, bottom, or verse) for free.. it makes no sense whatsoever for me, as a top, to see other tops.. That's a very integral part of gay dating and sex (obviously), it shouldn't be something locked behind a paywall. Just like the age thing is very integral and shouldn't be locked behind a paywall if it's added.

Wow. A quick look at some of the comments should make it clear that this feature is long overdue.

There’s something deeply concerning about grown men being outraged at hypothetically being unable to message significantly younger people on a dating/hookup app who would never be interested in them anyway, especially when they co-opt the language of social justice to make it seem like they’re protesting some sort of terrible injustice. Crying discrimination because someone doesn’t want to date or have sex with someone significantly older than them? Really? The level of entitlement is astounding.

This and the ethnicity filter both need to be added! Also, for all users, not just XTRA!

2) pests come in all ages...good communication and interpersonal skills go a long way to dealing with it
3) I also strongly suggest reading and adhering to the grindr community guidelines if one hasn't done so already
4) it just so happens that the guys i find attractive happen to be younger...funny thing my old mums the same but her bff used to like much older guys...and thanks to grindr my much younger current lover who also like older men was able to find me
5) I do like the idea of features that allow users to search for people with compatible preference so for example if i like otters and someone else like daddies we could findI each other quicker more efficiently...
6) could say more...the aesthetics of ageism for instance but that'll do...gotta get back to grindr and check out all those sexually provocative pictures put up mainly by younger guys which make grindr such a titilating experience for me (even if they do breach the community guidelines)

Let's say you wanna see exclusively people that are between 20 to 30 and you select this range in the age filter, then your profile should only be shown to this people

This way we won't be repetitively spammed by people we are not interested in.
