I can block messages and taps alerts, but I cannot block the sounds Grindr makes when I send a message or when the list of nearby guys gets refreshed. This didn't happen before, and I wonder if it's something I cannot find in the settings or a new update has forced these notifications. I'd like more privacy when using the app.

If you are on Android, you can do this in notifications. Click on the event, like Tap, and inside you'll find you can change the sound from App provided sound to Aby of the standard sounds

I agree the in app refresh sounds and sending message sounds are annoying. There should be an option to turn them off.

For example... you can allow us to change the notification, and also even go as far as of letting us change notification sounds for favorites.

The latest update makes it impossible to turn all sounds off.
Filed a ticket and they say they are aware of the problem

It would be good if turning off the sound actually turned off the sound.

yeah there's nothing at all discreet or friendly about that awful Grindr alert; such a jarring noise, it tears into my consciousness every time a Grindr notification comes in my phone. it's hateful and i'm not having it. just make the default alert tone more pleasant & discreet.

Add sounds to choose from for incoming notifications

Rather than having only one sound to indicate incoming messages, let us choose an alternate sound or let us use our own custom notifications sound.

Have the ability to change the sound to either the default notification sound of your phone or change to any sound you want.

I liked the old one but still. Other sounds should be available. So I agree with this. Since not everyone wants ppl. Knowing that they're on grinder. Since almost everyone knows that sound.
