Getting UNBANNED must be faster - via live chat support or a 'second chance' feature
Hi all,
I just got banned while talking to a mate on Grindr. Out of the blue. No warning, no explanation, no nothing. This is all but ridiculous!
I've been using the app for, I don't remember how long now - 6+ years maybe, as it's still not possible to check account creation date despite my feedback to Grindr on the subject months ago - and their system banned me in an instant as if I was using fake ID, advertising, selling, you name it bannable misconduct. Obviously, none of these apply. Yet no first or second warning, nothing at all - just a 'Your account has been banned for violating our Guidelines or Terms of Service' message while I was online and chatting.
This said, I'd like to call for the introduction of a live chat service for users to be able to contact Grindr Support directly and in real time. Right now I'm not even sure whether my in-app report got sent or delivered, as there was no confirmation of any kind neither on-screen, nor via e-mail.
Another suggestion would be the implementation of a 'Second Chance' option that allows offenders to avoid getting permanently banned until another violation. Often, as in my case (although, mind you, I still don't know why I got banned), mistakes do occur - be it on user or app's side - and having the ability to 'postpone' a ban until human Support has decided whether it was a genuine offence that deserved or a ban or a second chance, or it was a mistake due to automated measure in place to prevent abuse.
My only and rather wild guess would be that I got banned for sending my mate a link to show him something. However, I've sent links before and there's never been an issue. I don't remember using an URL shortener though such as bit.do (as in this case). So, if this is what got me banned - a genuine, non-harmful link - I believe it would help many guys to know what EXACTLY is forbidden to send in a private (yeah, right - "private") message and what isn't. How was I even remotely supposed to know using this specific shortener could get me banned? Like, seriously!
Hoping for your support on this, lads.
Kind regards!
We now link directly to a help page and ban appeal form when you get banned. Moderators typically review and respond to ban appeals within 1-2 days.

Don't even use Scruff as an alternative. They suspended me for "spam" although I've never done that and don't tolerate it myself. Refuse to answer support requests. I can only imagine its because I exercised my first amendment right, worded in a nice way, to say I'm looking for men not stereotypical of that site who have false vanity with their steroid use making their livers HEPATOXIC and I preferred someone who preferred a long life over temporary vanity. This must have ****** a roid queen and them to so they falsely accused me of spam. Does anyone know how to report this? I consider it discrimination and a violation of Googles terms of service.

Refrain from grindr all the ******* are on there and when i says ******* i mean it! I wrongfully got banned for let’s just say “knowing” what i want & many users can’t accept that so report me out of stupidity & grindr sides with them=support representatives are ******* too! grindr’s prime days have long been extinct, that app is a hot mess & there’s no hope for that so called “community” use Scruff, Hornet or Adam4Adam where support actually means “support”

Grinder seems to be banning accounts for unknown reason. I had my first account banned for reasons they cant explain. I asked them to point out to me specifically what made them ban my account but they just wont tell. I tried to appeal but they never responded again. So I made another account and this one also got banned for unknown reason. It looks like they are on banning spree, not to mention they have so many bots and spam users online.

What a way to get into the Christmas spirit, being banned from Grindr. I put in a support ticket, but at least it hasn’t been deleted yet.
Don’t recall any guidelines being broken in the slightest, or even being “mean” lol.

Thought I was the only one. This happened to me literally two hours ago and I’ve heard nothing back from customer support and most likely never will. Idk if it’s a vengeful user, bots/hackers or whatever and frankly idc. I deserve at least an explanation as to why I was banned when to my knowledge I’ve done nothing that violates laws or any guidelines.

I got banned twice this month after re-installing after a long time. If there's anything offensive in my "About" profile, it's the "BIG NO to posers, escorts, masseurs, dirty, and bad breath". These kinds of people are probably the ones reporting me.

I got banned today for unknown reasons. I put a complaint with customer service and then that too was deleted. Is this some sort of a glitch with the app?

This just happened to me as well. I logged in yesterday morning and was banned. I sent a message to support, they unbanned me. Then I was banned again... this happened 5 - 6 times. I was told I was banned for violating guidelines. I cannot think of a single guideline that was broken. When I asked, "Ben" said they can't tell you anything about reports from other users. So it seems anyone can just report you for any reason and then you get banned for it, regardless of whether or not you did anything wrong.

I was also baned grandr today for no reason and was never given any warning. The fcc law states must get 3 warnings in 90 days to ban anyone from chat room. The co must give proof( date, time and screen shot of the banning offence. They must answer the offence charges within 48 hrs or can be sued.

Wow- so many users with the same problem. And these must only be the very few to bother leaving a message on this forum; who knows how many are actually experiencing the same inconvenience. I do understand that technical and business mistakes can be made, but it's not very nice that no official statement was issued about the obvious fact that they are screwing up with A LOT of accounts, nor any response to e.g. this or similar threads.
After years of use, I was banned for no reason and no explanation on November 8, i.e. more than a month ago. Contacted the support three times: no answer, not even a canned one. So that's it, apparently. One would think that subscription fees and ad revenues would be enough to set up a decent support team, but no.
To all of you who, contrary to the support team, are actually reading this: here's to a Grindr-free 2020, see you on Scruff someday!

I was banned today and sent an e-mail. I have had the app for years and have never broken any rules. I have only reported others who were spam, abusive or racist.
I have yet to hear from Grindr on why I was banned.

This thread is unbelievable but reassuring. I’m not alone. I was banned, complained via the app and was reinstated within an hour by ‘Mike’ and told it was a mistake. Great. Next day was banned again. Complained again. Now silence. I do report fake accounts so ... It’s really an appalling way to treat anyone never mind paying customers

Same happened here chatted in the morning with usual people I chat with. The account then keeps putting my account in a different location, New york to be more specific I live in canada like wtf. Turned on and off my location a few times it set It back to my actual location but kept doing it so I tried logging out and logging back in said I was banned. Got a lame generic response saying I was involved in spammy activity and when I what I did they didn't say anything but gave me a quote saying they have the right to ban any account for no reason. I know I didn't violate anything I read the terms I dont ask for personal info etc this ****** me off I bought a subscription like wtf

Frustrated commented
Unfortunately I’ve recently experienced the exact same situation.
This morning I received notice that my account has been banned. After contacting customer service, I received a canned response stating that my account has been involved in “spammy activity.” Found this to be extremely odd, as I’ve been using Grindr for years & have never experienced this before, as well as, I’ve never spammed other members.
After numerous attempts to communicate with customer service today, I keep receiving the same response. When I ask for further information or evidence to prove this false claim, I’m told that they don’t release that information.
Therefore I’m left very confused and frustrated by this entire situation.
What else is one to do in this type of situation; other than create a new account and hope that it doesn’t happen again.

This is my personal experience in grindr, a guy in grindr invited me and house arrest with help of transgender and looted huge money from me, to create awareness I created a awareness profile so that all Gays in grindr will be safe and alert. But grindr banned my profile and I explained then many times but refused to remove ban on my profile.
This shows grindr is supporting criminal activities with transgenders.
I don't any one to get affected so guys stop using grindr

it's simple.. guys report you and grindr has no real people handling this , it's all done by bots and computer so your reasons matter nothing, it's just a program, live with it !~
