Getting UNBANNED must be faster - via live chat support or a 'second chance' feature
Hi all,
I just got banned while talking to a mate on Grindr. Out of the blue. No warning, no explanation, no nothing. This is all but ridiculous!
I've been using the app for, I don't remember how long now - 6+ years maybe, as it's still not possible to check account creation date despite my feedback to Grindr on the subject months ago - and their system banned me in an instant as if I was using fake ID, advertising, selling, you name it bannable misconduct. Obviously, none of these apply. Yet no first or second warning, nothing at all - just a 'Your account has been banned for violating our Guidelines or Terms of Service' message while I was online and chatting.
This said, I'd like to call for the introduction of a live chat service for users to be able to contact Grindr Support directly and in real time. Right now I'm not even sure whether my in-app report got sent or delivered, as there was no confirmation of any kind neither on-screen, nor via e-mail.
Another suggestion would be the implementation of a 'Second Chance' option that allows offenders to avoid getting permanently banned until another violation. Often, as in my case (although, mind you, I still don't know why I got banned), mistakes do occur - be it on user or app's side - and having the ability to 'postpone' a ban until human Support has decided whether it was a genuine offence that deserved or a ban or a second chance, or it was a mistake due to automated measure in place to prevent abuse.
My only and rather wild guess would be that I got banned for sending my mate a link to show him something. However, I've sent links before and there's never been an issue. I don't remember using an URL shortener though such as bit.do (as in this case). So, if this is what got me banned - a genuine, non-harmful link - I believe it would help many guys to know what EXACTLY is forbidden to send in a private (yeah, right - "private") message and what isn't. How was I even remotely supposed to know using this specific shortener could get me banned? Like, seriously!
Hoping for your support on this, lads.
Kind regards!
We now link directly to a help page and ban appeal form when you get banned. Moderators typically review and respond to ban appeals within 1-2 days.

What is happening I got banned too , not sure why. My profile was very simple 👀 to give or swap oral. Thats all no mention of drugs or anything... since when is giving or receiving head against the rules.?

Grinder bans you without telling you why they banned you. Why not say what term you violated? Just says banned? When you ask support to review this simply no response

Same, got banned for “spamming”. I’ve never spam anybody.
The only reason I could think of is that somebody report me because I didn’t answer or something like that.
People is stupid and the app doesn’t really check the reports. 😑

Same. It’s pretty unprofessional that they provide no explanation.

My account was banned as well. No answer why. So when I downloaded it again. I signed up through Facebook and boom, I’m instantly back on. Maybe it’s a glitch to get your social media info???? But I do think it’s largely due to guys you reject or aren’t interested in. If enough of these guys report you for whatever reason all on their own spite. You get blocked. Because I’ve never done anything worth blocking. But I’ve had to deal with the crazy’s who can’t take no for a answer AND the ones who use my pics in retaliation. If I stay unblocked I’m staying faceless on there. Could careless at this point.

Also banned for no reason at all... My account was at least 3 years old. Grindr has been going downhill for years now. Soon it will be a thing of the past.

Yesterday I was banned as well. When I inquired about what happened and why I was banned, I was told that my account was involved in "Spammy" activity. Never once have I spammed anyone, or asked for personal information from someone, or tried to steal anything. But the story doesn't end here. When I continued (and still am) to try to get out of them more information as to why I was banned, the response changed from "Spammy" to I "breached the Community Guidelines." I have gone over the Community Guidelines probably 20 times to try and figure out what exactly I did that made the Chinese dictators at Grindr ban my account. I think this comes down to a few things.
1) There are using AI to target spammers when in fact, it would seem it's affecting actual REAL people instead.
2) There is a "support" structure, but it seems a computer is the Judge, Jury and Executioner on these matters and if you're lucky, a real person will respond to you only to comply with what their "system" determined.
3) You also have to take into consideration that this platform seems to be extremely friendly to the drama queens out there that get their feelings hurt easily. Because of this, if you don't respond to them, or tell them you aren't interested as I've had to do multiple times, you are reported and Grindr automatically sides with them on the matter, even though it is your right to turn someone down for a ****** encounter.
4) I think there is also an issue with people at Grindr who just decide they don't like someone so therefore they must go. If you don't conform to the hive mind mentality and the ridiculously stupid California laws, then as they would say "it's a no-go!"
5) Seems everything drastically changed when version 5.24 came out and they stopped allowing the personal security feature of emulating your GPS location. I agree with everyone here that the "explore" feature is completely pointless. If an app is willing to get into my phone, the way Grindr does, and stop me from using a GPS emulator, then there is a serious breach on their end into MY private business on MY phone.
All in all I would say that this app needs to either die or go into the hands of new Developers/Owners. The Chinese Holding Company needs to be told to hit the bricks and take your dictatorial unjustified garbage with you. If it does not, then Grindr will go the way of gay.com and adam4adam.com and countless other failed apps/websites. They have a good setup here and COULD have a good thing going, but instead, that seems to be the opposite of what they are interested in. Perhaps they are satisfied with continuing to have a 3.4 rating on the Google Play Store.
Please accept my apology for making this long-winded, but this is truly out of control. I am glad to see other guys are standing up to this at least on their user voice page. Maybe someday, someone who actually cares, will read this and determine that all of us were on to something. Of course that'll be after the app reaches a below 3 rating on Google Play and guys stop paying for their outrageously priced Xtra premium packages.

Same problem, and no answer from grindr after two months. I eventually deleted the app as I got tired of receiving notifications inviting me to get a paid subscription for an app I can't even use.

I get banned almost every time I use grindr (after a month or something) and it’s for no reason at all. The software is clearly stealing from its customers: they intend to get you to keep paying since you are a *** addict 😂 and they want to be your Dom master and keep you putting more coins in the machine

So many new reports (yes, I do get a notification about each one q_q) and Grindr's still turning a blind eye to the situation. What's more, judging by reports here, they are purposely making things worse by refusing to help even those users who cared to contact them. At the same time they keep bombarding us with more of their trash - Xtra ads, stupid videos etc. Pathetic...
@Bucksnut279
Someone mentioned a Hornet app in the comments earlier. At this point, I'm just *waiting* to get banned without warning again and be fed the same bs you all are being fed right now. So, I checked out that app but I wasn't really impressed. Yes, it's more social than limited-features Grindr but I didn't quite like the interface. Also, almost no-one in my part of the world/country was using it.You could try Planetromeo - it's global and the app is very nice. They closed the "classic" version of the website recently, and I hate the new version, so I stopped using the website and app altogether after over 11 years since I first registered there. I might switch to it later if Grindr gets shut down or the random bans affect me too.
Another alternative are local websites. You should look for one covering only your country. Grindr has potential but it's just too limited and with its Support at this appalling level, it's no wonder people are seeking out better options.

Also banned out of the blue for no apparent reason. Always try and be kind to everyone, even the crazier ones.
Read the Community Guidelines, hadn't done anything written in there. Grindr support refused to tell me what I did wrong, closed my first and then second ticket with no reply and then sent me an email saying my ban would not be lifted and that Grindr reserves itself the right to ban anyone for any or no reason.
Really, guys? Nice way to treat your own community..

Same thing has happened to me. Banned for no reason. Created a new account...banned again after a few days. Created a third account, banned after a few minutes. Are there any other alternatives to Grindr since it seems to be a lost cause?

It's shocking to read all these messages. Perhaps grindr is in a banning spree, after all. I just got banned last night and I don't have the slightest clue as to why.
