Chat backups are nice and profile photos stay good if you change phones. It would be nice to backup in-app photos as well. I had to retake photos all over again after I got a new phone. I prefer in-app photos as opposed to sharing photos from my local phone storage.

Expiring photos are great but not always practical. Having the ability to send someone a pic, but then ensure it disappears when you want it to should be available as a basic option. The only other way to do this right now is to block the other users who you've sent the pic to.. again, not very practical. The proposed feature is good for those who value privacy and discretion (i.e. most users)

I was given the same ban. Main problem is it is now linked to the device, meaning you cannot resell your device saying it full works because if someone buys it they still won’t be able to access Grindr as the ban is linked to the imei number. I have raised this with Apple directly who have launched a full investigation as it is stopping the resale of their products. I suggest you all do the same. The more voice the more Grindr will hve to stop banning devices and ban users like they use to. At the moment I cannot sell my phone and Grindr have blocked me from emailing them as well

It would be better to have strong verification of the user. May be not in the suggested way. There are con men that threaten and take money & valuables. Especially in countries where the legality is non existent. Myself being a victim, got to know there are many victims like me. Can't go to police either.

And NEVER, EVER was I banned from anything. Until Grindr. Like all of you I was banned with no explanation, no ability to defend myself, just a cruel insensitive message saying you are banned. It reminds me of the police raids on Gay Bars, arresting unsuspecting people for no reason and allowing no defense. The very practice I have spent my life protesting. Grindr appears to be in the same league as these cruel police raids. It is a cruel, insensitive practice, and should be far from acceptable to a free people. This practice of indefensible banning should be banned. Immediately.

I can't tell where Grindr is doing anything for fake profiles, drug sellers, prostitutes, etc. Just a matter of time before shut down like craigslist when just openly selling *** and drugs. What's the next best site???? will not renew membership as no one to talk to at grindr, don't give a ****...

Do you really want your personal info such as driver license number, the real date of birth shared with Grindr? Here is a good read. Five years ago Grindr was sold to a Chinese company. US Gov. forced Grindr to be sold to an American company. In the month of March 2020 Grindr was sold to San Vicente Acquisition Partners. On the surface, it appears that we no longer have to worry about the Chinese government collecting our private info but the truth is San Vicente Acquisition Partners was registered 3 days before the sell date. Who owns the group is not public. Reuters report at least one of the investors is Chinese.
The Chinese gaming giant Beijing Kunlun has agreed to sell popular gay dating app Grindr for about $608 million, ending a tumultuous four years under Chinese ownership.

Reuters reports that the Chinese company sold its 98% stake in Grindr to a U.S.-based company, San Vicente Acquisition Partners.

The app, originally developed in Los Angeles, raised national security concerns after it was acquired by Beijing Kunlun in 2016 for $93 million. That ownership was later scrutinized by a U.S. government national security panel, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), which reportedly told the Beijing-based parent company that its ownership of Grindr constituted a national security threat.

CFIUS expressed concern that data from the app’s some 27 million users could be used by the Chinese government. Last year, it was reported that while under Chinese ownership, Grindr allowed engineers in Beijing access to the personal data of millions of U.S. users, including their private messages and HIV status.

Beijing Kunlun had agreed to sell the unit by June.

Little is known about San Vicente Acquisition, but a person with knowledge of the deal said that the company is made up of a group of investors that’s fully owned and controlled by Americans. Reuters said that one of those investors is James Lu, a former executive at Chinese search gian

A spokesperson for Grindr declined to comment on the record.
