during sign up create a username.have them send a selfie to Grindr support holding a sign displaying Grindr.com

I really think that device ban & phone number are horrible ways of verification. Device ban can be avoided with resetting phone, BUT the sim card number is blocked/banned forever from registering again. What if I give that number to another gay friend, or sell my phone, that person won't be able to use grindr???

Also they removed the Fake gps option - they forgot that much more gays live in small rural areas and that they can't see other profiles unless moving location to a bigger city / or when you travel so that you can find friends abroad in advance

Users should be able to "mute" words that could be offensive or annoying or commonly associated with scams, such as "BBC" or "sugar daddy". So if someone messages me a muted word, the message will be blocked and I won't even see it. And if a user has that word in their profile, the profile won't show in my grid.

These messages have actually stopped for me in the past few weeks (touch wood).

There were 2 things that really pissed me off about these spam messages:
1) they always had the same or very similar wording with the same URL shown, yet after huge numbers of reports Grindr would never filter them out (the work experience kid could do it in 5 minutes); and
2) the profiles that sent these spam messages were NEVER deleted/blocked -

Yes grinder is a hook-up site but with so many members it would be smart for you guys to offer a classified section which features categories such as a home renovation helpers landscapers drivers caregivers private chefs licensed massage therapist counseling groups AA and na classes crisis response websites and other such field how about hooking up people to help them not just f*** them

The ability to mass block all the obviously fake profiles with a select function to highlight dozens to block not just 1 at a time. This app is becoming worthless

Deben revisar sus políticas pues generan confusión y descontento. Vayan a los perfiles y vean lo que ustedes aprueban y luego comparen con lo que rechazan.

Grindr sorta has a thing about allowing people to be anonymous because they work for MI5 or MI6 or they are Boris Johnson whatever. So a lot of them won't come on what means less ads revenue less spam (aka additional ads)

there should be an option that only genuine users can view each other's profile. create two distinctions: "genuine" and 'yet to be genuine"

Like others I also think this must be intentional. Nothing else could explain such willful inaction.

I'm also suspicious that it may be a violation of GDPR, since spam is within its purview.

My own experience. I’ve had stuff stolen money stolen. Last year I was drugged and raped.

it is ridiculous, I got banned for no reason and still no help

- For 'massage therapists' you've already blocked the word massage. But there are still profiles getting around this asking people to sign up to 'refundable deposit' which are in fact signing them up to scam websites with expensive subscriptions. I work in IT Security, I've done the investigation here! You could use a URL verification tool to block untrustworthy sites. But also go further in detecting the language of scammers. There are tools to do this, I'm sure!
- There are less people trying to make out they are American soldiers who turn out to have photos belonging to other people. But we need to verify identity in a more secure way! Some of the other apps are doing this in a crowd sourcing way by getting other users to confirm people are genuine. Worth consideration.
- Still need to block users sending web links to 'have a good time', am guessing Web calls on your platform creating users and doing this in an automated way? Again URL filtering and blocking.
