There’s a lot of hate for taps, but I think they’re the key to a massive improvement of the platform. The gist of the idea is this: users can’t message each other until they have both tapped the other’s profile.

This is a lot like other dating apps (i.e. swipe right), but Grindr would still have the grid and other features to browse through profiles. Reciprocal taps would eliminate a lot of noise and annoyance.

One concern I can think of is for blank profiles. They don’t provide much information up front to respond to, so this change may negatively affect their experience. In that case, maybe a change to the album feature would help–allow users to share their album along with a tap.

On the grid view, profiles should have an icon (similar to the star for favs, online indicator, etc.) that lets you know if it’s a profile that has tapped you within a set time frame.

The tap feature should default to Hi! Instead hot 🔥 or naughty so it indicates one wants just to say hello and nothing else first. Thanks

Receiving TAP is horrible!! There are a lot of complaints about TAP, Grindr does not respect the diversity of users' taste, forcing everyone to send and receive TAP, when the right thing is to put an option in the settings enabling and disabling this key in the profile so that the function is used by whoever wants and likes it .
I am really disgusted when I receive useless notifications from TAP because in addition to making the user waste time, it makes them take the initiative to initiate communication that should have been initiated by those who had an initial interest. Sometimes we get in touch with the sender and they simply don't respond, the function is total banality and there is not always enough interest and they press the button most of the time out of addiction. Grindr is already aware of the duality and a lot of division about this function for a long time and even so it has resistance to implement the function to disable for those who don't like it, in fact hates this damn function! I hate TAP!! How long will we still have to deal with an undesirable function against our will without the right to disable it? How disgusting! TAP off now!! It is a function that generates inconvenience, waste of useful time and especially communication delay because when we see the person he is not available online. If you start via message, you already have a well-defined starting point, just reply. It is important to note that Grindr is not Tinder, which, due to the dynamics of the service, does not oblige 2 matches to combine interests before making available, deliver the direct message field, as it is the most important feature of all and obvious.

hate taps. asked a person nicely to stop whereby they decided to harass me and tap me every day since. been going on now for 2 years.. and still doing it today as i speak. reported but nothing ever done even though it contravenes community guidelines. GET RID OF TAPS or allow users to block them or deactivate them

It should say the same to people who disable them also shouldn’t be able to send them.

Actually tap button locates in the area where we usually move thumb to swipe.
Please relocate the button to upside or anywhere else.

Remove the tap function/button completely I believe I speak for majority of the gays in the community when I say this is the most annoying feature on the whole entire app I get constant tabs nonstop 24/7 even when you put if you tap me I’m gonna block, they still tap you because for childish impulses I’m assuming.

Just get rid of it. it is annoying, it is a waste of time there are better ways to let somebody know that you like them like…idk messaging…..

instead of having to click the square to go to the profile, THEN click the flame, i would like to be able to double tap the square on the grid to send a flame

Saludos. Deberían quitar eso de los taps. En realidad es demasiado incomodo y no tiene ningun uso útil y relevante, gracias.

Users should be able to totally disable taps. Turning off the notification does nothing but silence the tap indications. Disabling taps so users can not tap at all would be a much better option. That way we (users) have a sense of control of how we choose to engage with others on the app.

taps are for pnssy btches who want to let you know they're interested but want you to send the first message. I agree we need to be able to turn off or get rid of altogether!
