Improve Battery Life
Battery life after the last update has gotten even worse than it already was. Can literally see my battery life counting down when I am in the app. Absolutely poor.

Good and bad news, on iOS the phone going into “space heater” mode and draining your battery life only happens on the free tier. This could be due to bad code in the ads functionality or they’re just selling your phones processor time to make more money off the free users. Or maybe they’re just punishing you for not upgrading. Guessing it’s the first one though. Please fix it grindr. It’s been years! 😭

Battery life on iOS is very poor, my device heats instantly when using Grindr. How can this app consume more energy than a video game? Time to optimize…

What is going on with this app? My phone gets so freaking HOT like within the first 10 minutes I can’t use it anymore.
And if I am trying to chat, it gets all super slow and non responsive but it does remember what I’ve typed because it will catch up I a flurry of the buttons pressed after a few seconds. It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t do that every minute or less. The app is doing this on an iPhone SE, SE2 and 7. I have two profiles, one Google and the other Apple. The Apple profile has minimal use and the app still drains the battery and gets all hot and slow so it’s not a matter of how many historical conversations are stored.
It does not do it on my Samsung A10E.
PLEASE, figure this out and fix.
Cheers!

The app drains a lot of battery from the device. I ask you to do any updates to correct this high energy consumption.

Same issue for my iphone 8. My phone works smoothly for all other apps. Every time I open grindr, my phone starts getting extremely hot almost immediately that the app is unusable. Sometimes it even causes my phone to shut down and restart. And every time I update this app, the problem only gets worse. This app is definitely poorly developed and the developers should spend more effort fixing it.

The app is draining my battery on my iPhone and actually making it so hot sometimes you can’t touch it not worth being on especially if you’re away and can’t charge. Why is it doing this and he settings we can turn off?

This app is ruining my battery and overheating my phone. No way that I would upgrade and pay for this nonsense, and I rarely get on now.

At $240 a year this is, by far and away, one of the most expensive subscriptions out there.
Moreover it’s one of the most poorly maintained and featured apps: think battery life, connectivity, speed, current GUI, search by username or keyword - any primate with a enough RAM and opposable thumbs can create an excel sheet with the code for this type of search, sync across devices - all things posted in here that have been suggested for seemingly - well - forever, and all things they half assed dole out a crumb at a time and then expect us to absorb an enormous price increase for the inclusion of things are really should be compulsory in any app or subscription service.
This app and those whose run this company are a shining monument to ineptitude. It’s really very badly done, if they don’t have the good sense to be ashamed or embarrassed for themselves I‘m happy to do so for them.
What’s worse though is that we should be ashamed and embarrassed for ourselves for continuing to support this mortifying lunacy.

Thought my battery or phone was screwed. Power dropped from 90 to 60% in 15 minutes or so. Sometimes showing at 60% and in 5 minutes phone shut down (Power at 5%).
Forced app off and guess what. Battery lasts all day.
Seems every new "upgrade" just results in more problems....I thought on MS did that. -

Looking at this from last year. It's now July 2019 and it still seems to be an issue.

To greatly reduce the drain. Lessen the quality of your GPS location. Most devices now will use bluetooth and wifi. Cross referencing yours and other people's devices (phone, wifi router, computer). It helps pin point your location. I personally don't give a **** about me being off set by a block.

Even with Grindr forced closed, location services disabled, this app still manages to kill my battery in less than 2 hours. This app is being deleted.

My battery life was at 100%. Grindr was not running. Battery life dropped to 99% after 16 minutes of use (internet, email). I launched Grindr and in less than 3 minutes I watched my battery life drop to 87%. I force closed Grindr and my battery life has held at 87% for four minutes now, including while typing this comment. This is unacceptable.

Nothing new to add. Battery, battery, battery. I'm going to cancel my Xtra membership, as this app has been made redundant by better apps with better features (Scruff comes to mind).
