Completely agree and was about to post it just there. Causes a lot of confusion and isn't really helping!

    Hi,
I don't understand how the location algorithm for Grindr works, but it seems to be incorrect.

As I'm scrolling through the profiles in my local area (a small town, Carrigaline, Ireland, see map for reference), once there are no more users in this area, the app starts showing profiles from a city that's 90 km away (Limerick, again see map). The issue is that Cork city is 12 km away, and no profiles from there are shown on my list, no matter how far I scroll. If, however, I use Grindr in Cork city, there seems to be hundreds of users there.

My conclusion is that the algorithm does not in fact use distance between users, but operates on another basis. This is very limiting for users that live in commuter towns or rural areas like myself. I am unable to access profiles that are close to me because of this.

I live in Ireland, which has very inconsistent mobile coverage (see 4G map of my region attached), which might contribute to this, but I'm not sure in what way this would affect.

Could you please look into this?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,
    Oz
