Yes, I would love to know about this. There have been times where I've reported users who are either harassers or even underage and for some reason I always see them back on the app. So it makes me wonder if grindr truly is trying to make the app a safe place.

Personally, I think that's what the tribe category is for. But I could also get behind catering the trans community a little more.

I'm mixed about the ethnicity filter being gone. On one hand, I can't seek out other people who I have ethnic and cultural similarities with, but on the other hand, not only do I deal with the overt "it's just a preference" discrimination in which men are disgusted by my existence for reasons I, thankfully, can't relate to (and I'm more than okay with racists not wanting to interact with me), but what bugs me are the racists that purposely DO seek out certain minorities because they want to get off on their weird, racial fetishes & fantasies. Gay porn, and even apps, has fed a lot of people the idea that seeking out and using black guys solely to fulfill their fantasies is fine. So for me, it's always "i want bbc" this and "i want bbc" that. Personally, it drives me up the wall because I can't avoid men who love to stereotype me and others like myself. it's made my experience on grindr a living hell for the most part. Of course, men still do it but it's been happening less, compared to when people could just filter us in before. So that's just a little insight on what that's like for me. So, as long as i get to avoid interactions like that, I'm okay with it being removed.

And I would also like to enlighten people, especially gay asian men, that recent studies show that majority of asian men are actually the most discriminative on gay dating apps (you can literally google it and find certified, properly referenced studies). They do it more than white men, in fact—especially towards their own race and black men. They mainly respond to/seek out white men despite facing heavy prejudice and sexual racism themselves. So, personally, i feel like asian men shouldn't really complain about it because the algorithm shows that they utilize it and weaponize it more than any other race. I know, not all asian men are like that, but a great deal of them are and i feel like it only causes and echo chamber for them. I'm sure grindr has these algorithms, hence why they removed it in the first place, so I doubt they'll put it back just because an asian "minority" said they want to use it.

Lastly, I just wanna address some comments and say that when gay men make comparisons about racial preferences and sexual orientation, your failing to realize that there's people of multiple races that are both straight and gay. Firstly, if you don't think racial discrimination is racism, then at least admit its certainly racially charged. hence the root of the word race? rac/e/ial/ism? Who you choose to be or not to be attracted to is a choice. So when you bring sexuality into it, you're essentially saying that being gay or straight is a choice and that people aren't born straight or gay. So the next time you hear a bigot say "being gay is a choice" just remember that they're essentially quoting you (:
