One of the biggest problems with distance-based discovery in rural areas is that straight-line distance can be very different from the actual journey. A profile might appear to be only 25 km away while the nearest road makes the trip 75 km or more because of lakes, rivers, or disconnected villages. A useful improvement would be an optional road-distance setting, similar to navigation apps, so users could choose between geographic distance and estimated driving distance when browsing nearby profiles. Grindr currently uses relative geographic distance to organize the Grid, so this option could make the feature much more practical for people outside cities.

For a website covering https://fullmatch-replay.org/, this could also be framed as a broader example of how accurate location-based technology can improve everyday digital experiences.
