I've been hearing that many users are getting banned lately. This happened to me last month. I purchased the "Grindr Unlimited Day Pass" which was $9.99 ($10.22 total w/ tax).

Everything was going good for about an hour and I had a guy lined up to come over. Right as I was about to give him directions to my house, I got a pop up saying I was banned!

"Your account has been suspended for violating our Guidelines or Terms of Service."

I tried logging out and restarting the app, but kept getting the "BANNED" screen. I was so pissed, I needed to get laid that night and Grindr prevented that! I filed a support ticket and waited. I waited for days, then weeks.

Finally two weeks later "Sofia" reply stating that they banned me by mistake!

    Hi there,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us, and apologies for the delay in our response. We know it's not nice to be kept waiting.

Sorry for the inconvenience here, my name is Sofia and I will be assisting you today.

Your account was mistakenly banned by an automated rule designed to catch spam-like activity on Grindr. This rule is meant to catch activities such as an unusually high amount of messages being sent in a very short time. We recently fixed an error where this rule was also mistakenly catching group chat activity.

We have reviewed your account and can see that you're not a spammer, so we’ve gone ahead and unbanned your account. However, if you were sending out many messages in a short amount of time for any reason, please slow down so as not to be caught by this rule again in the future. This system is part of our anti-spam efforts, which you know are critical to keeping Grindr a safe and positive environment.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions or if you need further assistance.

Thank you for being a part of our Grindr family

    Best,

    Sofia @ Grindr Support

Notice: she conveniently didn't address my request for a refund. I had to go to my credit card and file a fraud complaint with them which will take a month to resolve!

GRINDR NEEDS TO STOP BANNING ACCOUNTS AUTOMATICALLY BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TYPING TOO FAST OR CONTACTING TOO MANY PEOPLE IN A SHORT TIME PERIOD. THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!
