    Phil,

    1. This topic is the "ethnicity filter," not the muscle/fat/hairy filter. So, there you go. Make a topic on that or find it.
    2. There are a whole lot more Chinese in the US than Korean, Japanese, Malay, Indonesians, etc... And yes, some of us have had Vietnamese (my 1st) and Korean (a former roommate of mine) bfs.

So, what in the hell is the point of asking, besides to look like an ass?

    joshua david serrao,

I tried to be nice, but now I am tired of your shit. I earned a PhD in a field that required me to learn the details of the subject, and I tried to leave those details out and present you with the gist. But, rather than take that and present a rational rebuttal, you are calling people racist whom you've never met, and it seems like you clearly don't have the maturity to learn what the meaning of the word is? In this entire discussion you have not presented a logical argument and sometimes are even near completely incoherent. You are arguing purely out of emotional anger and resentment. Clearly, at this point you are just arguing to make yourself feel better, or you just cannot grasp that people wanted to have a rational discussion.

I suggested numerous times that you provide a coherent argument to this topic in order to have a rational discussion, but you're just a miserable individual who cannot love himself, and you apparently need to take that anger and direct it to the entire gay community. I don't know what you stand to accomplish with your crap, except to bring others to your misery. So, as far as I'm concerned, you can fuck off with your bullshit; I'd suggest you seek therapy. DELETE the app, as you, yourself, suggested the rest of us do, and live alone with your miserable self if it angers you so much; perhaps meet guys at a bar or sport club, or whatever. In any case, I am no longer participating in the discussion with you. You and I have turned it into a shit show. I hope you can find some semblance of joy in your life, and I hope you are at least educated in your professional field.

    joshua david serrao,

Look, you can hate the game all you want. I've hated it also. Grindr ISN'T changing the game. That's an insult to the permanence of the game (i.e., evolution). Men want to spread their genetic material to as many SUITABLE mates as possible; guess what, that's what happens in the natural world for many species. It's hard to overcome hundreds of thousands of years of that built-in strategy, a consequence of evolution..

You aren't going to convince millions of gays to delete Grindr, and you're not going to convince them to refrain from instant gratification. And Grindr isn't going to make a racist not racist. Thinking that it can is an insult to the problem of racism. Sexual attraction to certain people isn't racism; it's a combination of things, including evolving to prevent inbreeding, say, and evolution to find a mate suitable for the climate your ancestors evolved in: having dark skin in a climate that's cold and low-light isn't good for survival, having white skin in a hot, high-light climate also tended to not go well. So, you're programmed, by evolution, to disregard them as suitable mates. OFC, there are exceptions. For example, when the inbreeding defense overcomes the desire for a suitable mate who is adapted to the climate your ancestors evolved in. It's a complicated play of many factors, some of which simply cannot be changed. And the whole being gay is also thought to be an evolutionary adaptation to allow a species to not completely devolve when there are no suitable female mates: males tend to fight, having some gays reduces that aggression to other males so that they don't kill each other off. Thinking that an APP can change the hundreds of thousands of years of complicated sexual evolution is pure HUBRIS of mankind.

However, that is NOT the discussion for THIS SUBTOPIC. Instead of hijacking the discussion, it would have been MUCH more efficient to discuss this topic (WHETHER THE ETHNICITY FILTER SHOULD BE REINSTATED) here, and your other gripes under their OWN subtopic, using FOCUSED arguments for that topic.

    joshua david serrao,

Grindr is for sex. That is obvious. If you want to change the entire gay community, it ain't happening through an APP. And no, we aren't going to change. Not tomorrow, not 10 years from now.

Some of you sound really angry, on either side. People are not going to respect your opinion if you sound angry and make wild, rambling, accusations. I'd suggest just stay calm and present your case and support it with rational arguments. We are in a subtopic concerning the ethnicity filter. It would be more effective if you keep to this topic and argue for or against. That's it, not how many guys you've had, not that everyone on grindr is a slut, not that everyone is a flake, not that your race is being crapped on. Grindr can't change that. Focus on what the company can change in the app, and why you think a change should be made, and you're more likely to get a result. But maybe not the one you want.

    joshua david serrao,

It'll help, in the future, if you provide coherent comments. You simply sound unhinged, and I don't know too many people who would take that seriously. It'll be more effective if you focus on the subtopic you are replying to: the ethnicity filter. And why you think it should or should not be returned.

    Beeswax Business,

Did anyone on this site make the claim that you are asking about? Even if there are a few people or many people out there who are prejudicial, do you think that because you are forced to show up on their screen, that they will date you? Do you think that's going to change their racial prejudices? Do you think that's going to help you get a date? I don't see how, but I'm open to hearing how.

Oh, about your earlier comment, we don't care how many different people of all
races took your seed, either. This is a forum, if we wanted to hear your smut stories, we'd go to a porn site, or ask you about it. That's a real civilized conversation you have going on there.

    1. It is not racist to prefer an ethnicity. (If it were, all homosexuals are also misogynists.) 2. Even if it were, people have other reasons for the filter. For example, an expat/tourist in a foreign country, who isn't there for the sex trade. Unpreferred POCs are not going to get more attention on the app bc of this modification. People just block them. Some POCs (see 2) in foreign countries would also like to speak only to people who know their language. I've been rejected by a Chinese guy because of this, and it is understandable. This "surely, it's racist" thinking is like an Orwellian novel combined with the movie "idiocracy." You're doing something "noble," but in fact you are forcing something on people who cannot change their preferences anyway. It is juvenile thinking. Also, I wonder if there are even some religions that mandate a same ethnicity partner.

Without the filter, there is really no reason to pay for premium anyway. And, I quit doing so.
