An informal definition of service profiles are things such as masseuse, waxing, or escort, etc.

There is a lot of spam from supposed service profiles (probably bots) that want to just get your online account information and then there are legitimate service profiles that want to provide services that lgbt people may actually be interested in.

Grindr could have a feature that verifies actual service profiles (sort of like verifying a profile photo) and cleans up unverified service profiles that have not requested verification from the app. This way a lot of noise is removed for regular users not having to talk to bots and two if people are looking for services such as waxing, masseuse, etc they can be rest assured that they are communicating to an actual verified person.

The app could load balance the application into two different sets of data the official service profile data and the regular user data. This would presumably help with performance since the main view doesn't have to handle a bunch of spam profiles.
