I’d be cautious about treating preventive cleaning as something everyone needs on a fixed schedule. If the main line has already backed up twice, though, it’s worth finding the actual cause instead of just snaking it whenever there’s a problem. Tree roots, grease buildup, damaged clay pipes, or poor drainage can all lead to recurring clogs. I came across this explanation of https://plumberinsandiegoca.com/why-does-my-drain-keep-clogging-in-san-diego/ and found it useful because it focuses on the reasons behind recurring blockages rather than simply recommending another cleaning. For older clay pipes, I’d also have a plumber inspect the line with a camera before committing to regular cleaning.
