    I’d be cautious about treating preventive cleaning as something everyone needs on a fixed schedule. If the main line has already backed up twice, though, it’s worth finding the actual cause instead of just snaking it whenever there’s a problem. Tree roots, grease buildup, damaged clay pipes, or poor drainage can all lead to recurring clogs.
