    A people-search site shouldn’t be the only way to verify a private seller. A safer approach is to check that the seller’s photo ID matches the VRC, verify the vehicle history and finance status, and arrange an independent inspection before paying.

    If the seller refuses to provide proper ownership documents, that’s a major red flag. Another option is using an established exporter such as Nobuko Japan, which can provide a more structured process for buyers interested in Japanese vehicles.
