Some people may use the ethnicity filter out of racism however it still boils down to having a preference.
The purpose of Grindr is to allow people to meet others based on our preferences and since losing the ethnicity filter, finding other people has become increasingly difficult.
There are profiles on Grindr with descriptions that can be deemed racist but in fact they are simply as expression of that persons preference.
In your response you stated that removing the ethnicity filter was from votes following the BlackLivesMatter movement.
Can anyone state that they have benefitted or can anyone demonstrate that BlackLivesMatter has improved it awareness as a result of losing this filter.
I am a white guy and I want to find Black, Mixed and South Asian and I am so disappointed that we have lost this filter.
Has anyone altered their preference as a result of losing this filter?
Is having a preference racist?
Have we really become so insecure that we can’t state a preference?
Those who are homophobic will find Grindr offensive. Should we expand its function to include straight people or perhaps disable the site altogether to prevent them from being offended.
Please bring back the ethnicity filter.
Thank you
