    “ You all are entitled to your opinions on your own preferences. But that is just what they are....opinions. Based upon some of the logic here, there should not be any filters as filters are discriminating based upon whatever factor it is designed to filter. As someone who has previously paid for Unlimited, I have not renewed my subscription until I find value of some of these features including these filters including ethnicity as well as some others being discussed. Failing to implement these filters in a timely manner will show that Grindr does not value its paying customers who will then decide to possibly look at other alternatives.”

    So you’ve never used another dating app online then? Because filters are NEVER going anywhere. Grindr got rid of a function that every. Single. Dating app has.

    Anyone against this must be withholding their ethnicity by intentionally not having detailed profiles.

    Why? Because no ones paying $40 a month to advertise a “mystery”!

    In the real world our eyes are our filters. There aren’t people walking around in black sheets asking you for your d size and for more pics.

    Even tinder allows you to be open about where you are in the spectrum. If you refuse to have a profile then guess how often you get matched?

    Either never or only by desperate people. I’m so sick of clicking one of the many blank, or might as well be blank, profiles only to either have no ethnicity listed or no stats. Not even what they’re looking for.

    With the filters I actually spent more than 10 minutes on the app before logging out. Why?

    Because I know what I’m into, it’s not racist and if you think so you’re both a sexist and a sociopath. Or really uneducated when it comes to dating.

    So let that be your problem and let me pursue what I want. You have your choices still. If that’s so bad go join Tinder or Scruff and watch how the world should work.

    Yes because hey or what’s up is much more useful then a tap. When someone taps you how often do you message them or tap them back and get a response? If it’s not almost always then you’re lying to yourself. Taps help make the awkward and degrading first contact process more mutual. If you get tapped by someone then you can confidently message them and expect a response. Which in grindr these days that alone is **** miracle since despite what people say they’re looking for, they only respond if they’re very interested.

    Tapping needs to never be removed. People who hate taps need to either disable notifications or realize they serve an essential purpose. It’s not as if many people tap anyways, I do.

    Only if I can disable the “hey” messages.

    A tap at least has a point behind it. Stop expecting people to start conversations and send you what you want and grow up. Ignore them if you don’t like their profile. Message them if you do. They already made the first step easy for you and you whine.

    Profiles without anything in them shouldn’t be able to tap at most but again. Be realistic.

    It’s thoughts like this, shallow and childish, that led me to being comfortable about lying about my age. Only by a few years but I commonly get people refusing to believe I’m 30 in real life. The average guess? 21. Median is closer to 20. Range is 19-27. I’d feel bad about it but I mean I’m not 16 using grindr to say I’m 18-20 and get others to commit felony level offenses with a now 10+ year statute of limitations. For the uneducated, I’m referring to statutory ****. Since 16 year olds can as I’ve sadly found out easily come off in person as well over 18 easily. They just don’t care or claim they’d never tell. Which as an adult who remembers what it’s like being a teenager I can confidently say hormones alone make that bs.

    Anyways this idea is gross and likely to be implemented anyways, it’s the grindr thing.

    Grindr needs to get on its above 18 policy way before the 21-24 age group should be able to click “too old” on the 28+ age group.

    There are filters already it’s called a monthly subscription. Or deal with it. I pass for 22 and I’m nearly 30. If your freaking out about age then go out and meet people your age.

    Then remember that there are 16/17 year olds who can pull off early 20’s and check your states defense for “I didn’t know” because it’s never worked before. And there aren’t Romeo/Juliet laws protecting you because your only 3-6 years apart it’s a prison sentence regardless.

    I’ve fell for it once and didn’t find out til after the fact a week later. ID’s need to be a requirement or age verification just for the children who don’t care. Yes they exist thankfully they usually aren’t able to pull it off, or have the guts to try but it’s common.

    Match.com is designed for that kind of thing. Besides it’s not exactly a science that a test can be used as a way to determine compatability.

    I upvoted this as I’m sure I’m not alone when I’ve told someone “not interested” or “that was messed up and disrespectful” or even “why are you contacting me again?” To be then verbally assaulted. I’ve told someone that they’re bio points out how distasteful they find “ghosting” mid conversation, yet they’re doing it to me right now. You understand that’s a little hypocritical right?

    Their response? “Shut the **** up you whiny little f****t 🤣🤣🤣”

    In real life I’d have gladly committed an assault and battery against this person. In real life that person wouldn’t ever say this to someone else’s face, as they’d be asking for a beat down by doing that.

    On grindr though I got blocked specifically as I began typing. They waited til I read their evil little comment and blocked me only after. That’s not acceptable. And many people do similar if not worse things. I’ve been called a racist pos and beyond for simply saying I’m only interested in other white men. Yet how many accounts title is “bbd only” or something similar? I doubt they get blasted as a racist. And anyone that says anything that vile will block you when they’re done. Assuming they think you’ve read it.

    I think that having access to the conversation, removing the reply and allowing a report and block option is necessary. When both parties have a reason to want to block the other, why does only the first to do so given the ability to block? With how often I find myself needing this I can’t remember all the people who I’d never want the option of speaking to again. Yet they have full control of our ability to contact each other? That’s not right.

    To keep from having the inevitable mass reports from bitter people who have been blocked simply create less reasons to block, or warn people attempting to report another that unless this is a valid reason to report someone, they can be banned for frivolous misuse of the reporting system.

    It’s disgusting. It’s the second worst and easiest to correct issue besides the now 14k upovoted “user verification request” which is still not even being responded to.

    I think this app needs to be removed from Apple and android stores. It’s negligent in preventing hate crimes, criminal activity, fraudulent misrepresentation and more.

    You don’t need a drivers license to submit a photo ID with your name age and birth date. States issue official ID’s either way. If you don’t have one and are asked by a police officer you’re going to end up in court or with fines so that’s no excuse.

    This just to keep kids under 18 who easily pass for 20-21 off grindr alone is reason enough. That a prison sentence and only a year of you’re lucky. Let people disclose that info if they want to but it should be a requirement before having an account.

    Biggest problem with this app. People have pictures up that they even admit, after wasting my time, that isn't them. A , 60 year old guy pretending to be my age? People getting away with phising for photos? You don't provide much with a paid subscription and the people keeping you in buisness should be your main concern. Subscription based profiles should also have specifial badge or something so they stick out from the rest.

    It's getting worse too.
