the sadder aspect of this story is, the vast majority of you *still* are under the illusion grindR will actually, ever, do anything about these ads
though, i suppose i can't fault the general public for not knowing any better—
—for not being savvy, that 99.9999% of all posts made here on uservoice are not checked by anyone from grindR management (much less, moderation)
that, unfortunately, the only way for any of us to ever get grindr's c-suites' attention, at all, IS by making direct threats, or / and slandering them
because, otherwise?
once you're wealthy?
you could (not) give a shit what the people who you're exploiting complain about.
once you're wealthy?
functionally, you're Invulnerable.
this specific thread approaches two years in age
the invasive ads, themselves, have been with us for, what?6 years now?
8?
can any of you tell me what action has grindr taken to address our complaints?
just use an ad blockerDone.

It would be cool if ads were more relevant especially in big cities. That supported local gay business and events and government funded health program.
Stop using ad networks that charge companies for impressions and clicks. When the ads are designed so the user mistakenly clicks the x and impressions are charge when customer closes the app when the ad starts and reopens it because it's faster than dealing with ad.
Hire a sales team to engage with business and create events to more support for grindr.
I think you do this like once every 2 years. That I have seen.Stop running it like china still owns it

Stupid video game ads are the WORST! I am usually redirected to a page that has no exit button or an exit button that does not appear for a extended amount of time and is then usually so small that when you attempt to exit the ad you are redirected to an automatic download of some unwanted game app or an endless loop of back and forth between the ad and the google play service. Why don't you just mandate a larger, standardized exit button and a standardized location of said exit button for any ads on Grindr? This would stop the irritating issue to the user and still allow advertising of the mindless bullshit video games so that you deem so necessary to the financial survival of the app.

I loved Grindr like everyone else, but now it’s so expensive and has so many annoying ads that last too long. I even put my phone away during the ads. And then you can only see 9 people. What’s the use of that? The app used to be one of the best. It has grown so much, but this is what you get in return. Profit is important for a company, but this is over the top. The goodwill is gone.

Sometimes I have to reboot my phone to get away from the redirects . I don’t mind a ad or two but some of them are just over board .

100% agree these pop up adds are ridiculous and unnecessary I’ve hardly been using the app since these started as soon as the pop ups come up I am closing the app. I don’t need forced advertisements for games on an app like this!

I click X on the ad....but instead of closing the ad, it takes me through to the advertiser's site?
That's literally not how it's supposed to work, what a misleading UX...

Grindr might need your money or that of the advertisers, but please….
This is a simple app, easy to write, now it’s a publicly traded company.
I hope you all consider rewriting the poorly optimized and buggy code if not the entire app.
Functionality and UI have barely changed since the first release…. What has changed is the app’s stability, regressions and other defects are everywhere. The app, as currently implemented, is using more memory than necessary, and the memory leaks constantly crash the app.I could create a fast version with the identical user interface in a month or two. If I thought I could get everyone to give it a try, I know it would replace Grindr. ************Hell, Craigslist was better, faster, easier, and more effective than Grindr until they stopped allowing personals.*************
Does anyone anywhere even play those stupid games?
