Being a side by definition of the term does include a form of Frot - rubbing/grind. So you would want an option for those like you who consider themselves Sides but do not like Frot, if I understand your language correctly?

So if Side works for you, then it should also be fitting to also include those who would like to use Frot as well. The umbrella is already big enough.

Again my main point is about the coding and the issue here in the chat should be around Grindr the semantics aside, no pun intended.

As per my last with all derivatives they have now for penetrative sex then they should have the same for those who prefer non-penetrative.

And again there have been others in this string that would not fit into side and they have a single focus so they should also be allowed to have their choice as well.

I bring that up because I have read many of the other stings beyond frot where some have asked that there also be an option for those who or only Oral focused, et al.

It is not complicated. Or course it may seem complicated to discuss and put down but once all of this is coded into a program it is not an issue. Other sites have done it, so Grindr should be able to do is the main point here - to have more options on the subscription.

That may work for you to say just "Side" but not everyone is there...just as there is for penetrative sex options Top, Top/Vers, Vers, Btm/vers, Btm those same parameters exist for those who are focused on Frot or this newer term Side is evolving as a known phrasing.

It is very simple and it is known and understood so if someone says Frot/Top-Vers no one is going to mistake that to mean anal. Alas people do also have words in their profile to support and expand as well, so it is not as if people will not take the time to write (though I do see being new on this platform many do not write anything) but that is to each their own.

There are other sites that have done this so it is not a difficult thing to do and they charge far less than Grindr such as the Frot dating site.

Alas one can use the terms again that have been around for quite some time to distinguish between Greek vs Frot so someone that is into penetrative sex would be:
Greek: Active/Vers conversely Frot: Active/Vers. (if you prefer not to use the words Top/Bottom or then one could use Dom/Sub i.e. Greek-Dom/Vers or Frot-Dom/Vers

It is not complicated but there are many with varying degrees of preference and as many have pointed out for the price point of Grindr they should be able to code in these options if other sites surely and charge a 80% less than they do can do it!

I think it’s better to have this bigger umbrella term that covers everyone who’s not into anal sex. Then at least it’s a conversation starter... other wise you’ll have to list frot/wank/oral/voyeur... and it gets a bit much.

@Matt: Yes I hear you. My only reasoning for saying Frot is that is not just about rubbing. Yes the word is that but it has a far more history and folks know the word and have used than "side" which would have it more well understood by more people, as well as those use the term G0y inside of the Frot community as well as a preference.

As well, I love it too and so I hear you on the terminology and at this point Grindr at least adding the option I would not care, just that they do it!

And aso I have also seen in the listing there are also those who say they are primarily Oral so for those folks they can have similar options.

It may sound like alot but that is only for the user when signing up to have the options, at least it will be easy for the viewer to only see what they prefer and the more options at least cuts down on sending or receiving messages from those whom one might not connect on a dating or initimate level if when it were to reach the level.

Frottage is literally rubbing, it’s a sexual act in itself. I don’t like it enjoy it. Side isn’t a sexual act, it’s simple stating you’re neither a top or a bottom.

I feel Frot or Frottage is better than "Side" since "side" is such a new term. Frot/Frottage has been around much longer - has more history. And there is even a dating website "FrotFrat" that also has in its title for those of us seeking dating etc options. Yes it would be great for Grindr to have that option of Frot.

Using "Side" also plays into the whole Top/Bottom duality whereas at least Frot has a terminology and historical context from the French word Frotter.

I think ‘side’ kind if covered everything non-anal, there's no need to confuse it even more.

So great to see that there are many comments about Grindr adding Frot or Side as an option. I am new to Grindr and to see that there have been so many comments about the issue yet they still have not added is such a shame that they have asked for input yet have not implemented esp for such a steep Monthly pricing point!

Indeed for those that prefer Frot and some are exclusive, some prefer highly but may be open to some other things intercourse but Outercourse is preferred - it would be most great to have as an option or at least be able to search by #hashtag which I put in my profile. Why have the hashtag option if one cannot search for it?

So yes Grind please add the option for Side or Frottage/ or Frot for short and then one can have Frot/Top, Frot/Vers-btm, Frot/Vers....etc

Or make a full update and allow users to to rank their preferred activities and for each allow the parameters: Exclusive, Highly Preferred, Middle of Road, Low Interest, No Interest.

and that can be for Anal, Oral, Frot, S&M, BDSM, etc.

That way if one goes to a person's profile and sees that the person is "exclusive" only for anor or Frot it saves everyone time for dating, LTR or other situations.

Again and allow for filtering either by positions or hashtags.

Great to see such an amazing group on this topic. Though it is sad as a new user to see that this has been going on for some time yet the company has not even made an attempt to implement it.

I’d probably stop deleting Grindr and reinstalling it after finding it not useful. “Top or Bottom?” does not work for myself, as well as countless others. Please add “Side” as an option under positions in the profile. This could also easily include those who prefer blow jobs, hand jobs, frotting, etc as a side is someone who enjoys side by side activity and not anal penetration.

Please add oral as a position option. So many guys like myself are more orally oriented. You could also make it an Xtra feature to choose more than one position like top and oral. Thank you for your consideration!

Please add Side among the usual Top, Bottom, Verse etc options. We are a minority within the minority that do not engage in penetrative sex and it is really tiresome having to explain each time. Adding this option would help educate the grindr World on this different category of homosexuals that exist.

Add for Position 'Frottage' . with such one could choose then parameters ex. Frot Top, Frot Vers, Frot vers btm etc for those who also enjoy greatly non-intercourse moments primarily or open to such in addition.

...and to search for guys who share similar proclivities. Oral or JO only, specifically, are pretty common. As I’m not interested in such guys, it would be a win-win for me to be able to filter them out, and for them to exclude me from their search results.
