More sophisticated profile
Even if it’s a hookup, most times you are going to want something to talk about before you unzip. Profiles are always loaded with user’s ridiculously rules, qualifications and expectations. Having a place to connect with someone on the basis of sports, education, jobs, interest would be a plus
Can you increase character size from 250 to like 500?
In response to the last comment, the quality of education received (as written in OP’s suggestion) is more significant than the type of degree earned. Associate’s degrees are becoming obsolete, bachelor’s degrees vary widely in rigor and prestige, and some master’s degrees are handed out by public schools after just one year of online study. The way OP has the levels listed is more potent and reliable.
•None = no higher education beyond high school
•Vocational = trade school, hair school, classroom training for healthcare jobs that require licensing rather than a four-year degree, etc.
•Public = a degree from any public institution, including UCLA, UCB, UVA, GT, UNC, UF, UT, etc.
•Private = a degree from any private institution, like USC, Georgetown, Tufts, BU, Tulane, SMU, Fordham, etc.
•Elite = a degree from any elite private (highly selective) institution, like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, Rice, Swarthmore, Emory, Hamilton, etc.
•Doctorate: a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, JD, DDS, PharmD, etc.) from any institution, public or private.
*Those with two or more degrees (bachelor's and a master's, etc.) can pick the option that best suits them.
Add more characters in for the bio, there is never enough space
How about level of education; no one cares that you got an elite education through high school and then did nothing after. Also, a public school like UCLA is arguably more “elite” even though it’s a public school than name your random local private university. Know what I mean? I get where you’re coming from, but I think the actual result you’d like would be achieved by stating level of educational attainment.
Examples: High School, Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Professional/Doctorate
If you pay for Grindr you should get 500 character limit on profile description. I know Grindr is about Grindn but it is possible to find someone for more. Thank you for your consideration
Increase the size of the about me information
By limiting profile text, Grindr will always just be a "hookup" app where people judge based only on photos and everybody sounds dumb and crude with one-word descriptions like "Top."
I'd like to see how well someone describes himself before meeting or messaging him. But as it is now, we're all just barbarians writing one-word descriptions or loading our profiles with annoying emoticons.....
Grindr has the potential to be both a hookup app AND a community where gays meet to make meaningful connections. If it doesn't evolve in that direction, other apps will fill in the vacuum...
"I love short profiles. That’s the beauty of apps. I don’t have to read your 1000 page manifesto."
Hello? No one would FORCE you to read it. You could choose to read it or not.
Easy solution: After 10 lines have "More..." like they do in other apps and on News articles on the Internet.
Those interested in learning more can press "More...", those not interested can skip it.This keeps the app presentation clean b/c if the person has written a lot about themselves (more than 10 lines) and you're not interested, you wouldn't need to scroll waaay down to read profile items (height, weight, gender, etc.).
Simple and could implemented immediately.
By limiting profile text descriptions (which adds almost nothing to storage data since it's just text..), Grindr sells itself short and limits user connections. Grindr is so much more than just a "hookup" app. To facilitate more meaningful connections, the profile size limit needs to be increased. We need more space to offer more information about who we are and what we're seeking. The current space is extremely limited. With more availability of comprehensive and descriptive profiles on the app, the user experience would improve greatly and the gay community would be much better off.
Best of both worlds: After 10 lines of profile text description, include a "More..." button for people who want to write/read more. That avoids having to scroll waaay down to look at profile items (height, weight, position, gender, etc.). Not interested in reading a lot about the person? Then don't press "More..." Simple!
This could be implemented immediately. It's one reason why I'm always on Grindr, but never seem to make meaningful connections with anybody on it..
Why are we only given 255 characters to describe yourself on your profile? I don't think that is enough. You should be given more space to express yourself and say what you want to say about your likes, dislikes, what you're looking for on Grindr, etc
I think it would be nice to be able to have the option to write more than 250 words. Sometimes 250 is not enough to write all you wanna write. I get it some people don’t read or don’t care. But there’s people that do. That saves time because people won’t hit u up if they don’t agree or they are not looking for the same as you. By reading your bio. And i think being an unlimited member $250/year should give me the option to write more than 250 words.
Dear Grindr Team😘.
You guy are doing an awesome job! Thanks....
BUT! I wish my profile could let me type more than just 255 characters😒.
1000 characters would be nice.
Please 🤲 & thank you🤝
....and conversely make Linkedin have a field for **** size and ****** position!?!

This isn't enough to express how we don't want to be treated and what works for us. Not even close. Specially if you want to have two languages. A few 50 more letters would do...
couldn't agree more I always run out of space and by the time you have wasted half the box saying messages are not working properly so if no reply try again you can't fit much about me in the space left. id be happy with 500-1,000 characters and id increase the number of characters you can fit your headline/name info as well as I like to have my name with offline next to it as it often shows people online when they are not and people think you are ignoring them. basically the app hardly ever works after 10 years
Are you gay, ********, pansexual, an aro or ace person just looking to meet new cool guys? Being able to distinguish yourself by orientation, and filtering others by it would give people more common ground. It would also help certain vulnerable people (for example myself - a trans man) feel better being able to choose the people they feel safest around. As grindr has a progressive gender and pronoun label (sadly not searchable), I don't see a reason why there shouldn't be a sexuality label functioning as a search filter.
O dont care how educated you are. Stop.using grindr as a dating site...its literally a hookup app quit acting like its everyone else being weird while you're on ther "looking for love". You need someone to have a doctorate before you sleep with them? If they're clean and attractive who cares?
Precisamos de maior limite para sermos claros, e evitar bloqueios e mal uso
There is only 255 characters allowed to describe our self on our profile. It would be very nice if more space is allowed to describe
I agree that something around 500 characters would be nice. I am an extra member and find it hard to give and get all the info I want with such a short profile message.
