Longer profile text, couple more profile pictures.
ten times more characters as a limit for profile text... now it is ridiculously short and it makes people sound ridiculous by overusing ridiculous phrases and emoticons all over... everyone looks the same, no space for personal touch.

I looked through the features that Xtra and Unlimited gave as I was absolutely certain that a longer About Me and more detailed profile was going to be a primary selling point, as I completely agree that the Tweet-sized About Me is the worst feature of the platform, and no: it's not even available when paying for it.
As noted, it's just encouraging shallowness and wasting people's time having to state what their criteria are in chat whereas it could just be right there in their About Me.
For example, I'm not interested in anyone who can't be bothered to get an HIV test at least every other month when they are hooking up with strangers, nor trust enough to show it (which I always will.) Plus I am only interested in one activity, and not in others which are considered almost required, and I'd like to explain why and how I plan to make that one activity as good as I possibly can, so someone can choose to pursue or move on, but 255 characters doesn't begin to cut it. The result is wasted time and effort and disappointment for both of us when we get chatting. I'd upgrade at least to Xtra JUST FOR THIS... give me at least 1K characters to play with. If guys don't have time to read it, I don't have time for them. And one photo is 20x or larger, even a thumbnail.. it's not as though it's a data storage issue.

I can't stress enough how important it is for Grindr to let us type more about ourselves in the profiles' "About Me" section. There's no reason whatsoever that we should be limited to such a small entry!!!

100% agree!!
By limiting profile text, Grindr will always just be a "hookup" app where people judge based only on photos and everybody sounds dumb and crude with one-word descriptions like "Top."
I'd like to see how well someone describes himself before meeting or messaging him. But as it is now, we're all just barbarians writing one-word descriptions or loading our profiles with annoying emoticons.....
Grindr has the potential to be both a hookup app AND a community where gays meet to make meaningful connections. If it doesn't evolve in that direction, other apps will fill in the vacuum...

Hello? No one would FORCE you to read it. You could choose to read it or not.
Easy solution: After 10 lines have "More..." like they do in other apps and on News articles on the Internet.
Those interested in learning more can press "More...", those not interested can skip it.This keeps the app presentation clean b/c if the person has written a lot about themselves (more than 10 lines) and you're not interested, you wouldn't need to scroll waaay down to read profile items (height, weight, gender, etc.).
Simple and could implemented immediately.

couldn't agree more I always run out of space and by the time you have wasted half the box saying messages are not working properly so if no reply try again you can't fit much about me in the space left. id be happy with 500-1,000 characters and id increase the number of characters you can fit your headline/name info as well as I like to have my name with offline next to it as it often shows people online when they are not and people think you are ignoring them. basically the app hardly ever works after 10 years

I agree that something around 500 characters would be nice. I am an extra member and find it hard to give and get all the info I want with such a short profile message.

I could not agree more. When do many people don’t take the time to write any bio at all, why are we limiting those who do want to provide information about themselves and what they’re looking for? 500 characters would go a long way, without being too long. I get that some people like short profiles but there’s no obligation on anyone to read it.

If there were more space to describe what we're into for example, it would save a lot of time in chats.

As a extra member i do support this we need longer profile text 250 words aren’t enough to express your interests and what you looking for. That could save time also when chatting with the person they already know what u like and what u looking for. On my profile 90% of the people don’t get it with only 250 words. We need MORE!!

In that small space, the guy has to prove to you that he's not a bot, not an addict, has a career, has similar interests to you, and more. So yeah, we need longer profiles.

We don't need ten times more characters, but we do need more room than 250 characters. More pictures would be nice.
